An odd decision indeed. With no trains, all supporters will be going by car/coach. So can just leave a little earlier.

Presumably to allow players and fans a chance to get home to family and friends on Boxing Day a few hours earlier.

Poor decision. Think this knock a few numbers off our travelling support on Boxing Day.

I doubt the club were consulted on this, for those who crave championship and beyond this would be a weekly occurrence !

It was an awful draw, this has just compounded it. I will be spending it in the pub like any sensible person, I can see it being our lowest traveling numbers on a Boxing Day for years.

A potential bigger home crowd... Smaller away crowd as a result.

A potential bigger home crowd... Smaller away crowd as a result. It seems not much consideration was given to travelling fans, by either Gillingham or Oxford. I don't care about their attendance numbers, I would much rather the club just declined their request and put our fans first.

At least they get paid good money for moving games and they are on TV for fans who can't go, ours has been moved because apparently people in Gillingham prefer watching 1pm kick offs, and that slightly strange reason is of no benefit to Oxford fans is it?

Poor decision. Think this knock a few numbers off our travelling support on Boxing Day. Never mind - you could always make up for it by going to Priestfield next week for the Chubby Checka

One of the busiest fixtures , home or away , of every season is always on Boxing Day So, WHY did the powers that be agree to moving back the kick off time for the U's Boxing Day visit to Gillingham to 1pm? Being a bank holiday public transport isnt at its most efficent, a 1pm kick off really doesnt take into consideration travelling supporters! Thanks for agreeing to the early kick off OUFC admin, and merry xmas to you too apologies if this subject has been covered elsewhere? "So, WHY did the powers that be agree to moving back the kick off time for the U's " Surely the kick has been moved forward ?

No need to apologise Saddletramp , dont think Ive ever been a mouthpiece for the travelling support? that said, as this forum, is indeed that, a forum, a place where ideas are exchanged MY OPINION , which Ive voiced remains that by agreeing to move the Boxing Day away kick off time BACK from 3pm to 1pm at the request of Gillingham FC, those at OUFC who agreed to the moving BACK of the kick off time, Id say, didnt have the best interests of most travelling OUFC supporters this coming Boxing Day paramount in their thoughts. Pleased to hear the kick off moving back suits you and your work schedule, enjoy your Boxing day away match

For the pedants, it's brought forward and moved back. In this instance the game has been brought forward from 15:00 to 13:00.
And, having been last season and having experienced the delights of Gillingham, the Loungers have decided to stay at home and enjoy turkey sarnies and another drop of the red stuff. (That, and the fact that neither of us would be legal to drive at the time of day required anyway!)

Never mind a 1pm KO. It was a stitch up of a fixture by the league in the first place! I thought Boxing Day fixtures were meant to be teams playing each other close by yet they have got us going to Gillingham, Scunny going to Blackpool and Plymouth having to go to MK!
We then have the short journey to Bradford the following game!

Hopefully the teams promoted up from the fourth and relegated down balance it out a bit next season.

Boxing Day at Gillingham sat in a stand made of scaffolding at 1pm or seeing the family? Easier decisions have been made to go to war!

Was always going to miss this one, won't be for still being over the limit though, rarely have more than 2 beers on Christmas day😀 More to do with cost, and the fact the boy would rather go to Bradford instead as his next away trip. Think it's a bit poor bringing it forward to 1pm but as there is no public transport everyone would have to make their own way, be it car or coach, and does leaving 2 hours earlier really make that much of a difference? Be home earlier for a night out anyway 😀
