This is more of a 'what happens if the current trajectory continues' sort of post.
1. The performance of any organization (regardless of purpose) often/almost always reflects the quality of it's culture, structure, strengths and difficulties. Therefore, one has to view performance trends within the context of these factors.
2. Currently, the run of losses is, in my view, not just 'bad luck' or 'not good enough players/manager', but something more serious and systemic. In short, are we seeing the symptoms of an underlying and undeclared problem/s?
3. The repeatedly voiced concerns/questions about the ownership of the club and it's uncertain position regarding the current and possible future owner/s, suggest a 'no smoke without fire' situation.
4. The silence of the Owner is a bad sign. Rather than explaining and clarifying the situation, Mr. Eales has seemingly taken a stance of silence which encourages fans to answer their unanswered questions. This inevitably leads to conjecture/phantasy/and, given our history, pessimism.
5. The continuation of this situation makes the odds of Oxford United becoming playoff contenders frankly ridiculous.
6. The continuation of this situation makes the odds of Oxford United becoming relegation battlers very likely.
7. Publicly showing faith in the manager (by the owner) whilst often being seen as the kiss of death, may also signal something which acknowledges the concerns of fans. No such statement has been made.
I conclude;
Eales is trying to get rid of the club
Pep hasn't got a chance of succeeding
Myles (and co) are absolutely right to be expressing their concerns.
