Not on the bench today. Anyone know why? Obika is back, Thomas is fit, Mehmetti not far away, Van Kessel a week away, making roberts 5th choice. He will be off in January. He was on the bench making up the numbers. He is miles away from being good enough for the squad. His level is 4 leagues below, as his loan patterns have shown in recent seasons, being unable to hold down a place long term of Oxford City. He isn't 18 he is 22 and needs to find his way in the world, not kid himself he has a future at club that has moved on massively since he came through the ranks. Irrespective of whether you think he will be off in January the point is that none of Hall, Mehmetti, or Van Kassel were fit yesterday. Roberts was and came on as a sub vs Bristol Rovers so Pep must have some faith in his ability to close down defenders and inject a bit of pace in the dying moments of a game particularly after 3 fast and difficult games. I just don’t see the point of having both Martin and Williamson on the bench neither of whom could influence a game in the final minutes.

Glad Pep is our manager, not some on this forum. Pep obviously thinks Roberts has potential and is giving him a chance to prove himself. Hope the lad proves the naysayers wrong.

The opposite of a Naysayer. I have seen him play for the second string/development team quite a lot, and unfortunately he was on the bench to make the numbers up. The youngsters out on loan are doing well, just as Roberts did when he was 16/17/18. He is now 22 I believe, and well below the standard we are playing now compared to 5 or 6 years ago.
He is one of the few loanees atOxford City not to have a loan period extended, does that not tell you something?

Casing point, I'm afraid.

Not to say he won’t make it, but Appleton said similar things about the potential of myles welsh Hayes and rob cundy. Both getting a couple of chances , doing ok before being released But I think most importantly his not suiting the formation we play will mean he doesn’t get the chance as much as his ability

Maybe you're a relative. It's not really worth discussing. I'm simply stating what I have seen of him and how his career has been in terms of failing to hold down a 6th tier loan period. An Evo-stick side will no doubt come in and snap him up

I actually agree with you that I doubt he will make it but my point was that despite any of his shortcomings i felt that he would have been a better option on the bench yesterday than one of Martin or Williamson.

Hearing that Roberts is off out on loan / trial with Guiseley.
No matter what happens, just hope that he can find some form and show what he can do.

Presume the team mentioned meant to be Guiseley FC rather than town. Managed by Paul Cox, assistant manager is Adam Murray.
Tommy Craddock was there for a little spell. Currently got Andy Haworth who we had on loan for a short time under Wilder. Second bottom in the conference - recently signed Mike Fondop from Oxford City so must have a connection in the Oxfordshire area.
Hope the lad gets a chance

Just hope he has a degree of success in whatever he does, would be great if he finds a good club. He's one of the youth so it's always nice to see them do well, but after he goes I think he'll be forgotten relatively quickly (a la Marsh, Gunn, Clarke etc).

Hoping the changes he's put in off the pitch will help him out in his career.

Not sure where you get your news from on this Junior, but would like to see them both getting minutes on the pitch, either here or somewhere else - though would be a great shame if events (and too many dodgy signings) mean that we dont see them achieve their early potential at United....

Roberts being looked at by Lewes as well apparently.

Mmm not sure any dodgy signings have meant neither of these are playing? I reckon that Pep to be fair has had a good look particularly at Roberts. He, like MAPP have decided that he is not good enough. Not sure which of these 'dodgy signings' should make way for either of these?
