Why would he be joking? Even on Goal Rush they quite rightly said that Henry caused Wimbledon problems all afternoon. Some candidates for MOM but I would have Henry as well. He crossed the ball into the box which missed it's intended target, but luckily Richardinho came in around the back. But admit it was one of his best moves. Did you notice the half hearted challenge in the middle of the pitch which if he'd actually attempted to get the call he would have been through on goal. Just don't rate him, think he's passed his sell by date.

Henry had an excellent game. He works hard for the team and caused them countless problems with his craft and guile. He made two of our gosls to boot.
If that’s just ‘ ok’ what’s a good game, a hat trick at the Nou Camp?
I n fact we won easily yesterday because the work rate of the whole team significantly stepped up. Ultimately AFC had no answer.

Sounds like you are in a pretty small minority when it relates to yesterday I am surprised that anybody could suggest that he was anything other than very good yesterday regardless of what happened in previous games. Fortunately Pep is our manager ...

Some people could win the lottery and still moan about the colour of the cheque!
8 days ago we were going into a tough game at Peterborough on the back of 3 heavy defeats. The defence looked awful, we had no real attacking threat and our midfield was being overrun.
Skip forward a week and we've beaten a decent Boro side away, and put away Wimbledon in the type of game we have struggled in for years.
We've scored 7 (and could have had a few more) and looked far stronger as a defensive and midfield unit. Wes Thomas has lead the line well and continues to pick up important goals. James Henry has produced a great performance and looks the player we all expected. Ryan Ledson has upped his game and looks dominant, Joe Rothwell is looking far more comfortable and both full backs are looking solid.
Yet, some of the usual candidates come out with comments like, "we were ok", or "wait for amother Blackpool". Fans were slagging off Thomas, Rib and Henry during the game and I even heard one moaning that Eastwood looked disinterested because he had nothing to do!
Football is all about highs and lows, and Christ, Oxford have had more than their fair share of lows! I sometimes get accused of being blinkered, pro DE etc. But if you can't enjoy times like these then really, what's the point?
Enjoy the wins, and take defeat on the chin. It makes life a million times better than the constant negative stance some of our fans take.

Some people could win the lottery and still moan about the colour of the cheque! I'd have more of an issue if they gave me one of those stupidly big novelty cheques. You'd look a right knob carrying that down the road, and it definitely wouldn't fit in the hole in the wall, so you'd have to actually go into the bank, and then there would no doubt be a queue....

Hasn't got a mention yet, but I thought Nelson was superb.

Fans were slagging off Thomas, Rib and Henry during the game and I even heard one moaning that Eastwood looked disinterested because he had nothing to do! Did those “ fans “ not see that save from Eastwood just after the break from Cody McDonald’s header? That save - getting up high to stretch and turn the ball over the cross bar when it looked like a certain equalizer - was worth the price of the match ticket alone. That was a helluva save. Ribeiro is fully fit now and looks comfortable at full back. He is good in the air too which is important and good with the ball at his feet. Thomas is now looking the part and fair play to him - the goal yesterday was the goal of a proper centre forward. Back to goal, spinning the centre halves and planting a superb low drive, wide of George Long into the bottom corner.

When people moan for the sake of moaning it means we're doing well. Just have a read of Wimbledon, Cobbelars and Scum forums if you want meltdown and handbags.

It was noticeable yesterday how we played further up the field, pressed and harried the opposition to good effect.
I thought the two central defenders were excellent. Mousinho my motm.
Really good finish from Wes too.

I just watched the highlights. James Henry didn't seem to play THAT well. A bit of overreaction on here I think. I didn't go to the game and have watched the 61 seconds of football on the highlights and have to agree with you. He didn't make a single save, failed to score with a backheel lob from our own penalty spot having brought a looping corner under instant control and didn't even score a hat trick. Time to get rid.

Jeez is Henry playing away with some people's missus' n here..?!
Ok he didn't pull up any trees to start with when he arrived but he himself acknowledges that he needed to improve and he now is.
Cut the poor guy some slack, we've had far worse and not that long ago.

Wimbledon might be bad but they're bloody Barcelona compared to their forum/message board, it's like something out of the very early 2000's

we played good but lets not get ahead of ourselves now, all it takes is another blackpool result and we are back down in the dumps again lets enjoy it but not too much still a long way to go. This sums up some people's attitudes. I see a couple of other moaners didn't fancy commenting on another thumping win for us again. no I'm just staying grounded, i reckon you were in the same group calling for pep's and darryl's heads a couple weeks back, No? you can look back i have said as long as we stay in the league i'm happy, I'm not expecting fireworks after this game and can see us getting a reality check once again when we play bristol hopefully we win but can not see it myself.

Henry is much better on the right. It's the old 'square pegs' thing again.
I thought we were pretty good against a dismal Wimbledon team yesterday - although if they had a striker who could actually hit a barn door with a banjo it might have been a closer thing, as they did make a couple of half decent opportunities when it was just 1-0 to us.
Although we are scoring loads of goals again, I do still worry about getting through the whole season with the strikers we have. I suspect we might see other periods where we play with an entire 'false forward line'!
We still aren't the finished article IMO, but the last two matches (even the first half at Peterborough) have shown a marked improvement on the three before - Nelson back in his preferred place, a proper right back in Ribeiro, Ruffels doing the important solid stuff in midfield are the main reasons for that change (again IMO, of course!).

Henry looked very comfortable yesterday, the first time I've seen that this season. He was a pest to their full back and was far better than ok. I thought Mousinho looked more confident at CB and although he got sucked to the ball a couple of times, was part of a defence that looked balanced. Rothwell did a nice job wide as well and was a constant thorn in their side in the first half.
If AFC continue to play powder puff football, they are going down. Their midfield looked like it had people playing in the wrong positions and far too ponderous around the pitch.

But they're only going by what Radio Oxford/others may have said. I remember Goal Rush saying we were lucky against Notts County a couple of seasons ago when we beat them 4-2 and battered them. If fans think Henry is class then god help us. OK so most supporters (based on what is being said here), Pep and Goals rush are all wrong and you and a small minority are right that Henry is rubbish (let alone looking at his record) I think that god better help us ...... (if you read what is being said, I think that most are saying that Henry was class yesterday)

Its no surprise that playing Henry in his favoured position he then plays better...Peps choice should be Rob Hall or James Henry, and not try to fit them both in, with both of those fit and Ribs playing we have and excellent right hand side on the field and on the bench...Its the left that is not as dynamic.
Riberio is another one that has made a difference, who'd have thought a right back playing right back would be better than a centre back playing there? lets hope Carrol gets the nod if Ribs gets a knock.
Henry has got bad press for trying to fit in where the manager wants him to...

I couldn't be bothered to look at their forum but I imagine Orient fans are on the verge of also going into a full-blown meltdown. 2 draws and 5 losses from their last 7 games. Mhmm good times.
On the subject of yesterday's game, I thought it was a very good performance with some nice football. Yes, they're in poor form but we've struggled in the past against teams we should beat (based on their league position/form) so it was nice to get a good win. Good to see Thomas scoring again. It was a really well taken goal, too. I thought Henry was very good. I admit he has been a bit ineffective in certain games, but credit where it's due, he did well yesterday. We look so much better with a natural RB. I think Ribs is a good player; hope he can stay fit. That save from Easty was pure class. Oh and I think we should all collectively pray to the Huddersfield Gods to allow Payne to stay with us for the full season. Such a technically gifted player and so good to watch.
It's amazing how close this league is - just 2 wins and we're right back in the mix of things! COYY!

They must be enjoying their stay in non league, were away to Tranmere in mid week and then back up to Barrow yesterday.
