Payne as a 'false 9' with GvK and hall either side interests me. Not sure I 100% trust the rest of the team to keep it either to feet or in behind, though.

Thomas will be a nailed on starter. He thrives on crosses so GvK and Hall have to be on the flanks with Payne, Rothwell and Mowatt feeding the wingers. That would show some attacking intent and keep Bradford on the back foot. If we allow Bradford too much time on the ball by sitting deep we'll be in trouble. Take the game to them in the first half for a change!! COYY

Yup. Strange as it may seem, tomorrow is a huge game. Far enough into the season that we can start to understand who the big dogs are and may be. Not too far into the season that nothing can change. Barely anyway support from a top-flying team. And at Fortress Concrete Triangle. I can't wait. Oxford support exactly 6,000 bizarrely, Bradford 0 (breakdown on the M1). I have nightmares about f*cking dogs!

I think it will be an entertaining game tonight, between two teams looking to assert themselves. I think they have made a lot of changes over the summer, and like ourselves have started brightly. I think it will be a close game, with both teams trying to play attractive football in difficult conditions.
My prediction Oxford 2-1 Bradford.
14 points from our first seven would be a great return from a squad still needing time to gel.

A tight and entertaining game but I worry we will miss Obika's ability to hold the ball up, however with Thomas needing too prove a point and looking hungry i'm going with 3-1. Thomas, Hall and Gino. Win this and expectations jump up a little notch.

If they have Wyke up top, it may need Williamson's experience and nous. We struggled to cope with him at the away game last season.
I respect the good start Bradford have had, but fear them? Nah.

Almost certainly Thomas will play in place of Obika, and I think Mousinho will keep his place for this one. So, I think we will line up like this: Eastwood Carroll – Nelson – Mousinho – Ricardinho Ledson - Rothwell Hall – Payne – Henry Thomas Although, maybe Pep with go with the Spanish false 9 system, bring in Mowatt, and play the speedy little ones … that should confuse Bradford a bit. Eastwood Carroll – Nelson – Mousinho – Ricardinho Ledson - Rothwell Hall – Mowatt – Van Kessel Payne

Talking on RadOx on the 8.30 news bulletin, Pep said if the circumstances are right he's quite happy to play 3 at the back. Bearing in mind he has also said in recent days that he is wary of overplaying Carroll I wonder if he would go for 3 at the back tonight, not sure tonight would be the right game to give it a go but we will see.

Or we could play a Pep-style 'false 9' and crowbar Ledson, Rothwell, Ruffels, Hall, Mowatt and Payne into the team!

I can't see any reason to experiment against one of the strongest teams in the league. I doubt we'll see 3 centre-backs or a false 9 (whatever that is).

I think the idea of playing a false 9 is a good idea as it gives the forward 4 players freedom to move about and overload the opposition.
I think especially at this level most teams would struggle with our forwards running behind and across their back line as it requires their defence to be constantly aware of who is picking up who.

They also had their left back sent off on Saturday so hopefully Robbie can get at the replacement as much as possible.

As somebody else has suggested the problem with that is that we have never played it before (and none of the players have probably played it before anywhere except maybe for Xemi). So whilst it may be possible in time, why play and experiment this against one of the best teams in the Division?

Expect this to be a good battle, between two of the better teams in this league (we are the best obviously!!) I think a 2-1 win will do nicely. Payne and Nelson on the score sheet.
Only changes I would make from the team from the weekend would be GVK in Henry out, and Thomas in Obika out.
Expect the weather to play a big part in this one as well. Heavy rain and gales forecast from 7pm onwards - bring your waterproofs!!

I'd like to see Mowatt come in for Henry. He can play wide and he has a history of cutting in onto his left foot and hitting the back of the net. I suspect Agon will be on the bench and Pep would bring him on to replace Thomas with 20 minutes or so to go.

Not sure replacing one player with lack of pace with another with lack of pace on the wing will be the solution. I would rather start Gino in place of Henry.

Leeds fans I've spoken to say he's not a winger by any means, yes he can play there so can rothwell, but both are far far better in his own position.

Henry will start. He works hard and is a good team player.
Mowatt will be on bench; he's not fully match fit yet.
Suggest Thomas for Obika and as you were for rest of team.

Weather is supposed to be wild later, that will suit the physical approach from Bradford so we need to take that into account!

I fancy us to get a penalty tonight - who do you reckon is up for pens now Magic has left?
Don't think we have scored a league pen at home since we beat Coventry 4-1 last November. Can remember Mags missing one v MK Dons later last season then Magic missing v Cheltenham in the Cup earlier this season when he scored the rebound.
