And if that is their mentality, I wonder why they bother going. How childish.
In fact, children aren't that pathetic. I take that back.

I'm just waiting for one of these idiots to be caught, get banned (or imprisoned) and then to pop up on here moaning how "it isn't fair, it was only a bit of fun, smoke never hurt nobody, it all for the atmosphere" etc etc etc. They won't get any sympathy from me. Do you think that it's right that they should be imprisoned?

Do you think that it's right that they should be imprisoned? No - I think it's ridiculously over the top and another example of football supporters being some sort of lower species in the eyes of the law. The punishment does not fit the gravity of the (fairly minor) offence. But nevertheless that IS the case (whether I agree with it or not) and they KNOW it is the case. The club have asked them to stop, fellow supporters have asked them to stop, even the Ultras have said they don't agree with it and they know the consequences if they don't stop. It isn't something they are doing accidentally, it is completely purposeful. Getting caught for doing something you know you shouldn't and then bleating about what happens afterwards would not get any sympathy from me (even though I think the law is in this case an ass).

They shouldn`t be jailed.
they should have said smoke bombs inserted into various orifices and then ignited....... like a static firework. Then they can see if its "fun" or if their "pyro" adds to the "atmos".
Failing that birch them.
Then fine them.
Then ban them.
Then do it all again.

lets be honest,it may be time for far more stringent body searches at the entrances to the East and North stands Why should the rest of us have to be subjected to full body searches just because some immature scrotes are letting these things off? Unfortunately that's how it usually pans out The majority suffer due to the actions of the minority. As for those who continue to go on about it adding to the atmosphere. It's illegal in this country, idiots continually letting them off aren't going to change that.

Could maybe arrange a red arrows type display for half time where they run round the pitch with their yellow smoke coming out their afterburners.

The thing about pyro is its a European import. In grounds in Europe it's confined to a certain section. It's never in family areas, that what annoys me even more about this, the smoke bomb was in the north stand.
I'm an expecting father and want to take my child to an OUFC game as soon as really, and will most likely take them into the north stand. If there's a chance a smoke bomb will be let off by some young imbeciles, I may think twice about going in the north stand.

It appears that some of the ultra's on twitter still don't understand why other fans are getting so annoyed about smoke bombs going off.
This might even upset some people but I wouldn't put it past a couple of people linked to the ultras to go in the north stand on Saturday and let a smoke bomb off so people then go, well it's not in with the ultras so they have nothing to do with it.
Just my opinion of course.

Just my opinion of course. To be fair to the Ultras, they came out pretty quickly against smoke bombs once DE asked fans to stop setting them off. 'It's health safety gone mad' is a common complaint from the pro pyro side. Whether it adds atmosphere or not (IMO an irrelevant argument), it's still illegal in this country.

It 'improved the atmosphere' so much that in the East Stand I didn't notice it until it was pointed out when I exclaimed what's that f**king smell....

This could be the half time show instead of another dollop of Rosie. It could be like the Colosseum ( but 3 sided) and the perpetrators are led out to their fate with the crowd baying for their punishment, Mixter could lead the procession and take charge of proceedings.

Again much like drinking a beer in view of the pitch, smoking in the East stand bogs or entering the field of play (I remember two recent years pitch invasions with several repeated warnings to stay off the pitch) smoke bombs are illegal. So they shouldn't happen. That said there were several thousand people who would have broken the law for each of those other things in recent seasons. Also I don't see why they cant be part of football if they were made legal and appropriate safety measures were introduced, much like safe standing if done safely and in a community accepting to this style of football support then fair enough.
Just to reiterate they are illegal now so I am not encouraging but we get promoted last game of the season at home then lets keep off the pitch because that is illegal too.

The club have not faced warnings for people running on the pitch etc. 99% of the fans do not want smoke bombs. Most of us have gone to many hundreds of games without the need for some acrid smoke to enhance the atmosphere. It's not difficult to avoid being a dick if you really try.

This was set off 2 rows in front of me, thick pungent smoke sticking in my throat really enhanced the atmosphere, lots of kids and families in this area as well...let's hope they return for another atmospheric experience...

Not sure how they are able to let off a smoke bomb without being caught. Manage to confiscate balloons last season of children 🎈 But not a smoke bomb. Oh the irony

Back in the mists of time & shortly before the ground opened I had a tour of the "state of the art" CCTV control room. It allegedly had the ability to read a newspaper in the opposite stand. If you factor in several years of lack of maintenance or upgrades I`m wondering if it even still works!
There weren`t that many folk around it on Saturday....somebody knows who it is.... from the images I have seen the kid in the black North Face/Berghaus jacket with the black hair looks very guilty.....

I thought it was rumoured that the club's custodian sold that state of the art system and bought a more fiscally economical version to replace it?

End of the day these are banned in the UK grounds! They do not worry me too much but that is that! If you recall a chap , a few years ago was put in jail for this. Anyway, they look silly and can could get the club in trouble! Anyway what is Mr PC view on this little matter?

As Mr Smith's Wig says "just my opinion of course".
