Maybe it could mean a player is leaving from the midfield... Hopefully not Hall. Felt sorry for him Saturday. Quality player, need to retain and play. All this debate about Ruffles, when the player who appears to have been actually sidelined by new faces is Hall. On his day, one of the best players in the squad. I kind of agree. The trouble is that 5 into 3 doesn't go and with Payne, Henry and Johnson as well as Hall plus Rothwell, there is huge competition for the 3 places probably on offer. Payne and Henry in my view are definites at the moment so people are playing for their places. I am sure that Hall will get a chance and will have to take it. A nice problem to have for Pep.

Maybe it could mean a player is leaving from the midfield... Maybe or maybe Sercombe and Lundstrom have been replaced by Xemi and any new signing? My assumption is that Rothwell is not to be considered as a central midfield player as part of 2. With regard to Ruffels and Ledson I thought that they did pretty well on Saturday and seem to be taking on more responsibility without Lundstrom. It would be a shame if one lost their place for a new signing, but from a managers perspective I guess he will always look to strengthen. No sentiment in football progress. It's harsh but that's the world of football. Sentiment prevents progress , as tough as it may seem. If the player is good enough they keep their place , if not they don't.

All this debate about Ruffles, when the player who appears to have been actually sidelined by new faces is Hall. On his day, one of the best players in the squad. Maybe not fully fit. Henry and Payne I'd start in those positions over hall, and also Johno at left wing. But to start rothwell ahead of him is a strange one I think that was based on Rothwell giving better cover to Johnson when he got forwards. So it just gave us a little more solidity in the middle.

Clotet is listening to advice from faz and Allen, but at the end of the day he's still going to want to make his own mark and want his own players in balance. He's come in and due to losing players some decisions on Saturday were forced in my opinion, I.e ruffs and rothwell both playing and Johnson playing left back. He's going to make his own mind up and it's how he rates certain players that will obviously determine whether they are good enough to start week in week out. Ruffs and rothwell are good footballers but I would be surprised if they become regulars in the starting Lineup. They are still progressing as players.

I think we should get out of the mindset of players necessarily being dropped ..it's horses for courses or the dread squad rotation but more positively everyone playing a part.

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40856837Saw this guy having looked at Halmstad BK's wikipedia page and thought we could go for him...£2.7m move to the premier league though, no chance! Shows there must be talent in the squad and league

I'm not sure how or why we ended up in this squabble or why for that matter people are as ambivalent about Ruffles as they seem to be. To me he does exactly what needs to be done with very little fuss in whatever situation he is put in. His ball retention is good, he works hard, has a good engine and can score goals and track back and tackle. More impressively he is still improving and looks at home even after we stepped up a league, something Lundstrum struggled with early on last season. I have nothing against our interest in Ivo, we have a fantastic recruitment department and I trust their work but it just seems a little off to me that some are already edging aside a fantastic emerging local talent for a player that we know almost nothing about and who we haven't even completed a deal for yet! Let him come, let him prove himself and let him win his place, i'd be happy with that. Until then, i'm more than happy with one of our own and the work he is doing. This.

2 year deal with an option of another year.
Good to see the club showing a lot of faith in the lad.
In Pep we trust.

Now for a striker or two please Really? Playing one upfront (I assume we will do that) we have Obika, Thomas, Hemmings and Roberts. Even if we let Roberts or Hemmings go surely one is the maximum we need? Huddersfield supporters were suggesting that Payne could play upfront if necessary so we have quite a few options ...

Rothwell is young hungry and he is going to be quality, Ruffelsmisnyoung and hungry and has earned his start. 2 or 3 would gladly see them dropped and then I doubt someone will come in for them and they will be sold and that would mean t2 decent players of which both are young and hungry will improve and we have older 1 year contract Players who maybe good but we have no youth which we want to keep. Bloody hell some people!

Seems to be a very good signing and adds competition and depth to the squad, something we lacked last season bigly.

Not a lot of goals which suggest he is a midfield holding player.
