Posted the following in the Lundstram thread. Nelson is down as captain on the official site but nothing communicated by the club:
"The communication coming out of the club is atrocious. No marketing, no PR, no liasing with fans. Very little replying to Tweets which is a key way of businesses communicating with customers these days. Not replying to tweets is the modern equivalent of ignoring phone calls and letters etc.
Who the club captain is matters to the fans so there should've been a good news story about it. Even just a picture of Pep shaking hands with Nelson at the training ground and a brief article about it would've sufficed and pleased fans."

Surely no one is surprised at this. Who do you think will do the marketing? When will people get it: there are very few staff at the club. We can't expect MB, CW, PRB or the ticket office people to do marketing. A sorry state of affairs. Agreed..but... I work in recruitment and I continually see loads of really great candidates in the digital marketing / creative space, loads of whom would jump at an opportunity to work for a professional sports club. There are even grants available for 'apprentices' / interns / placement students etc. If money is tight then why not go down this route? Appreciate an experienced marketing professional would be the preferred option, but there are alternatives.

It's possible the Nelson thing is simply how the FL structure their content in the player database - Captain, Vice Captain - and when Lunny was move to SUFC, the system did the rest and put Nelson as captain.

Clicked onto the Jack Payne thread earlier and one of the banner adverts was for the new Arsenal away kit, "get a ten pound voucher with every purchase" it flashed at me. Why was that advert not for OUFC and how can Arsenal give away a tenner and OUFC cannot even maintain the promotions promised in seasons past to offer season ticket purchasers a discount in the club shop?
Ah, you may say, Arsenal are a big Premiership club with pots of dosh. And so they are but this is the OUFC forum site and should be promoting OUFC materials etc. If we can think of all these ideas why doesn't the club? (might even make a bit of money!!)

The advertising will be generic from Proboards I would have thought and be based off your search history. Why have you been looking at Arsenal websites?

Anything to avoid admitting you've converted to Zoroastrianism? No shame in being a Parsee, 'lounger.

A little sketch of the chaps relaxing pre-match in the lounge. As you can see, all getting along and enjoying some intellectual debate. I do miss the footy season!
