For a man who insisted that Northampton were the best team in League Two a couple of years back, Wilder seems strangely intent on signing players from Oxford's team that year: Wright, Baldock and now Lunstram.
I think Lunny would be huge loss for us because our style of play revolves around him. It would also be shame for him because I don't think Wilder, with the way he likes to play football, will start a cultured midfield playmaker very often.

Think it may be a decoy story to try and get the Ryan Leonard deal over the line. Or maybe that's wishfull thinking

We're not going to let Lunny run down his contract and leave for a free next Summer are we? So would we turn down £750k for him now? Think he is a cracking player, but it is a tough one for the club.
I know we don't want it but I think there will be some significant outgoings (Marv & Lunny) and incoming a quite late on during this pre-season.

Do we have a years option on his contract we can activate though essentially meaning he has 2 years left? It's something that has been in quite a few of our players contracts the last few years.

anyone know how much compo we received for Appleton? Guess the amount determines whether DE needs to sell or not.

I think we will get this a lot this season, potential interest in, Nels Marv and Ledson too with one year left on there contract next summer, question is do we bank on getting promoted in which way they have more chance of signing new deals or do we sell up now while they're worth more?

Southend and Charlton don't want to sell their best players because they are serious contenders for promotion this season.
Southend have just offered Leonard a three year deal with an option for a forth, and Charlton have basically told the blades to do one over Holmes.

Will be a big loss important part of the spine of a good team last year that has already been broke up too much for my liking.
That said I think you have to take the money if he wont sign a new deal.
There was still value in Dunks mags and even macca in jan all allowed to leave on a free. Shocking window with nothing to show for it now wasted the 2nd half of the season. Only positive was carroll coming through and Ruffs who I think is ready to play.

Eales was talking about getting Lunny on a new three year deal towards the end of the season wonder if this could be his agent creating a story to get a wage hike or something along those lines?

If we were willing to double Dunkleys wage then surely we'll be willing to give Lundstram a wage increase.

We got 150k for Sercombe. 500k for Lunny is a pisstake bid. Would rather have him in the team for a year and him leave for nothing, than let him go now for that.

If selling Lundstram meant keeping Johnson or vice versa, am i the only one who would prefer to keep Johnson and let Lundstram go. In an ideal world we'd keep both but Ruffels could fill Lundstrams role. If one was to go I'd rather it be Lunny because we have so much more depth in the centre. I definitely would not let him go for less then 850,000.

As much as I like Ruffs as a player I'd sincerely hope/expect us to sign a bloody good replacement if we allowed Lunny to leave

Lundstram still has another crack at proving he can lead this team to promotion (assuming he's captain again)
Can't see him leaving, captain and a key player for oxford who are a promotion chasing team or a squad player for sheff Utd who will hover mid-bottom table in the championship

If he goes there will hardly be any players left from the promotion season. Just Ruffles, Long, Roberts and Ashby that I can name, and I'd expect the latter three to be gone within the next 12 months if not sooner.

Really hope he doesn't go. Think we have only scratched the surface in terms of his potential.
Also if he's going there then they can pay more then needed. Let him pay 50% more, little oink.

£500k is a joke.
Get Lunny on a better contract. This is one area where we need to improve as a club (ie tying down players for longer). If they are star players, then we should move sooner before they get even close to their last year. As it has shown now with Lunny / Dunks, their heads can get turned.
Another example is Ledson. If we wait until next summer before renegotiating, we will lose control of the situation.
unless we get at least £1.5 at today's prices we need to just hold him. we can get 500k in Jan if worse came to worse.

To be fair we did move early on lunny same as Eastwood. Difference is he hasn't signed it and Eastwood committed to a longer deal
