I work in Leeds and the locals consider Roofe as someone who disappears in games, lacks an end product and won't cut it at championship level long term. Not quite the Roofe we saw in L2. We've come a long way since Roofe left, and unfortunately it seems that he's hit a crossroads with his development/progression. We don't need him with the squad as is. Left 6 months to a year too soon? Same with COD, maybe a year in league 1 would of been better for both players in the long term. I know a few Leeds fans who see Roofe just as a squad player.

The guy has played in all three of their games this season. He isn't sitting on the bench or in the stands, he's on the pitch. It would be very very strange if he was then loaned out, no matter what one or two Leeds fans may think of him. They even put the guy at the forefront of their new kit campaign in the summer.

In a nutshell, we did remarkably well to get the money we got for Roofe and Dowdy O'Dowda. They chose to move on - so should we.

He was sub on Tuesday,so how can you say "he isn't sitting on the bench?" He was subbed after an hour last Weekend. Unless Leeds make a couple of signings in Roofes position before the window closes,he wont be going out on loan. I think it shows how much better the Championship is than leagues 1 & 2,when our best player of recent years is only a squad player at a mid table championship side. It also puts into perspective comments about our players such as "he is definitely good enough to play in the championship" whenever a player has a couple of good games.

In Roofe's defence, from the games I've seen this season and last (that's quite a few with Sky!) they chick him out on the wings and ask him to do a lot of tracking back as well. We all know that's not his best position. When he played behind Wood for a few games last season his performances were much better and he contributed with goals and assists. Fair enough. But Leeds obviously think they have better players in the number 10 role,so its out wide or the bench for Roofe.

Leeds can play him wherever they like. We got good money for him that we have reinvested pretty wisely. I don't think we need him back on loan thank you very much, i miss his magic hat but he doesn't fit in our present team.

For me, Roofe would walk into this team in any of the front few positions... More about unsettling the squad than anything else. None of us really know how GvK or Henry are going to turn out, and whether Hall can maintain consistency. Would like that to play out. It would be interesting to see if his time at Leeds has knocked his confidence though...

a £3m championship player doesnt fit into our team. Get real! :-)
Think we will see Marv to Leeds and Roofe back on a year long loan - straight swap - they need a defensive winger not a magician. We certainly cant afford to buy him back/pay Leeds wages but he is much more mobile than Henry

And he came on - he has played in every match and started all but one, where he was brought into the game after an hour. So if you want to be pedantic, he isn't STAYING on the bench even when he finds himself on it. He is playing every game. That's my point.

Yes it does, josh ruffels found it in the back of a locker , it fits and is working very nicely

I was tempted to read this thread from the first page but it obviously has taken a far better turn. So, Mrs Lambchop has a penchant for the wurst? Not unusual. But, Frankfurter? less than errmm fulfilling shall we say? Now, the proper weisswurst has both girth and length. (tends to hold it's shape a little longer too) Ahh, takes me back to my youth travelling around the old Bundesrepublik. The demise of the wall in Berlin changed so much. Oddly, bananas became a popular form of greeting. Which is better in a bun?

Leeds are a huge club and he us right in the mix in a squad that will feel they can challenge for promotion. Leave aside whether Leeds would loan him out, there is simply no way that roofey should make that move. It would be him accepting he can't make it at championship level. Reality is that he's done very well since leaving? As has callum.

same could be said for a lot of players roofe has a great relationship with our club and despite what your saying hasn't hit the ground running at leeds at the moment, we have a very very talented payne from Huddersfield who is a prime example the game time is needed and the quality is there for all to see... lets just see shall we what happens next couple of days

I think some might be getting ahead of themselves.
Oxford asked the question some time ago but got knocked back. Maybe they have asked again but with Wood going Leeds would then need to find 2 players with 10 days of the window left.
There's a big difference between a club asking about a player's availability and actually signing

Leeds sold Chris Wood yesterday so I doubt they'll let a forward go out on loan now.

The only way they would even consider allowing Roofe out on loan would be if they sign a big striker to replace Wood - right now, Roofe must be eyeing up the place up front, having been confined to the wings (literally) at Leeds. Time for him to stake his claim up front.

I felt he would have benefited with a year in Leauge One, both for him and us. He is a regular for Leeds, so I can't see it happening.
If it were to happen though, I'm sure we'd find room for him!
