Personally I'm amazed we offered one. ANy prospective clubs watching the performance at home to Bolton, for example, will steer well clear. I think it was the worst cb dispaly I've ever seen in a yellow shirt on that ground Somewhere out there, a small smile breaks across the face of Ben Futcher, Arthur Gnohere has also got a beaming smile.

[never has an Oxford player got as close to spending 80% of his time on the pitch celebrating]

Who was the player who rejected a contract from Oxford in the mid 90s (Alex Dyer ?) Thought he could do better, when no offers materialised he came crawling back and said that he would accept the offer after all. Denis Smith told him where he could shove his contract offer .

McGukin, Jarman, Richardson - a back three to scare the hell out of ......... us! That season we had a squad that included:
Jimmy Glass, Phil Wilson, Richard Knight, Ian McGukin, Lee Jarman, Jon Richardson, John Robertson, Wayne Hatswell, Rob Folland, Rob Quinn, Jordan Holder, Peter Fear, Phil Gray, Steve Anthrobus, Derek Lilley, Neil McGowan, Jon Shepheard, Ross Weatherstone, Keith Brown (Who?!), Neil Cutler.
The exceptions were Dean Whitehead, Paul Powell, Chris Hackett, Joey and Jamie Brooks!
Top goal scorers in 2000/2001 season: Phil Gray 9, Matt Murphy 8, Beauchamp 7, Andy Scott 5.
I would say that squad is the worst OUFC squad in my time of supporting the club and that includes the conference squads. Even then we didn't have as many rubbish players as we did the year we got relegated to division 3.

To think some people complained about Brian Wilsterman! I loved watching Wilsterman, at least he tried. And he was from Surinam, which seemed pretty exotic back in those days. Pretty exotic now, to be honest. It's hardly Slough is it?

What happens if Dunks has made a shocking career decision and rejected a contract offer but doesn't get picked up by another club? He's burnt bridges at OUFC and becomes one of the thousands of players who dissappear into footballing non-league obscurity? Or does he come back asking to be accepted back - on a much cheaper contract?

You would think in the age of agents, he would have one or two provisional offers in place and only rejected ours on advice. If what you suggest comes to pass, very hard to see a man of MApp's principles accepting him back.

Part of a promotion winning team who's had plenty of cup runs. He's not going to drop into non-league obscurity, not this season anyway.

Absolutely no way that Dunkley will not feature next season. Probably in league 1, possibly higher.

I too would be surprised if he went straight to the championship but he will certainly be playing against us next season if he moves.

Dunkley was one of my favourite players when he joined and he has undoubtedly not been that good for the last ten games or so. With Nelson proving to be a good player after injury, Dunkley probably knew he wasn't going to feature much. I wish him well and feel he might do better at another club. I'm not sure it'll be the championship but if it was then good luck and thanks for the memories Chey

When it comes down to it I couldn't give a toss if he goes or not. Central Defenders like him are common in the lower leagues so someone will come in. People need to get over it I think.

I remember a pre-season in Thame either last summer or one before where it was basically Dunks and the kids and even then the home side sussed out to let him have the ball as he could not pass wind...

That was the first ever version of Championship Manager that I ever got and however many times I tried I never made it past Christmas without being in the drop zone and getting sacked

I agree that it would have made some sense if his agent was working to find him somewhere. But his form dipped significantly since Christmas and losing his place to Raglan for the last few weeks won't have done his sales team any favours either. Dunks is a great lad - enthusiastic, committed and a genuine tryer. But he is not the finished article and if his agent has been filling his head with the idea of a big time move I fear Dunks may find he's been seen off. Having said all this we'll probably find Conte or Mourinho sign him tomorrow morning!
