Posted this a while back on another thread.
FK says he will not sell to an individual (I don't believe this), anyhow could DE get another few another 3 or 4 wealthy U's fans together to purchase the ground and then put it into a trust that means it would always be the U's home.
Then some type of payment plan could be agreed with the consortium which benefits all?

It's not like he even had some cunning plan and tricked us before, he did it all in plain sight. He didn't hold nick merrys arm behind his back or ask him for his autograph on a blank piece of paper that turned out to be a folded contract. He tricked FOUL didn't he- turned them into cheerleaders for him and when everyone was drunk with enthusisas, he slipped the wallet containing that juicy Manor Freehold out of the Club's pocket and into his own Absolutely! Anyone who believes what comes out of that cu*ts mouth is an idiot. He has been an avasive, lying, cheating, lying, rude, lying piece of sh*t ever since he got his gubby mits on the manor. None of our chairmen have ever been able to deal with him. DE and Oxvox will be no different so forget about any stadium deal. Kassam will only sell when it suits him and to who he will make the most from. I hope DE and the council come up with a plan B but I don't hold out much hope of the council doing anything to help us. Side issue but with all these houses being built in Oxford where are all the leisure facilities? Maybe they could do with a great team to support and some great sports facilities;-)

The fact he's still round the table and not just said no, like with darryls boss suggests it does

Well the latest OxVox committee missive tells us nothing more. I'm not even sure what the intended purpose of it was.
Just repeating that it is complex answers none of the questions as to why it is taking so long to reach even basic agreement.
There remains also no indication as to why OCC are involved in the discussions at all. That they are involved may well be a contributory factor in the delay given how slow public bodies operate, and if so, it would be helpful to know this.
It strikes me that OxVox may be trying to run before they can walk by putting together a complex agreement that could and perhaps should wait for the final agreement.
The statement that the club would not benefit noticeably from the stadium ownership from day one is clearly a major concern, and the club having to negotiate terms with a community owner seems also to be arse about face. A community ownership should be about non-profit, so there should be no need for material negotiation. A simple lease agreement offering rent at cost for 24/7 unlimited use. Otherwise what on Earth is the point of a community model?
This statement seems to be more politically motivated than based on providing explanation, and it has raised far more questions than it answers.
Whilst I agree that taking the club out of the county would be unacceptable, despite OxVox protestations to the contrary, the club never said it was going to. The club simply responded that no option is ruled out, when the proposal was put to Daryl Eales. Calm heads are needed by OxVox here. There is too much paranoia and unnecessary suspicion in this statement.

What a load of crap. This statement has probably only been made due to the club and people like you questioning their motives and timescale. It clearly states that the club has been kept informed and has even been fully behind it. Like with the council having to put the club right over the training ground, oxvox are having to clear up misinformation and questioning caused by poor press releases from the club.

Tiring ain't you they have explained what they are doing, they have given a time scale . They are still further forward than any chairman has managed in 10 years. What more do u want of expect ?

So Kassam is at the table. Woo hoo. That means absolutely nothing if he is not serious about selling. And the only way to prove he is serious about selling is agreement on HoT.
Kassam at the table IS NO FURTHER FORWARD than Eales making an offer to buy.
The facts are simple. Very simple.
Involving OCC in the deal is really not very clever. In an age of so called austerity, there is no way government or councils can justify subsidy to a private company in a supposedly cash rich world of football. Anyone who thinks otherwise is barking mad. And if OCC are not subsidising, there is no point them being involved as all they do is slow the process and complicate it.
A community ownership model only works where funding is available that does not require an investable return.
I am now seriously questioning if OxVox have access to funding that does not require a return, and if they do not, OxVox should withdraw.

That's the current position though, there is absolutely no reason what so ever Darryl and the board can't do that right now, or for that matter the last 3 years.

Ok so they withdraw , where does that leave us ? No further forward. And in exactly the same position the club are currently in. It then leaves the way open for Daryl Eales to try to progress a deal, or find an alternative. Errm, if you read the latest OxVox letter to members, you will see: "Before embarking on any meaningful negotiations with interested parties, the committee sought the ‘buy-in’ of the club’s owner, Darryl Eales. Without that ‘buy-in’, OxVox would never have sought to get involved at all, as our aim is to assist the club (whoever owns it), not hinder it in its attempts to progress and further its sustainability. The Board of OUFC stated explicitly that it both supported those efforts and would continue its own endeavours to purchase the stadium. Indeed, it subsequently made another offer to Firoz Kassam and has made that offer public." In other words, the club and OxVox agreed to try a two pronged strategy to buy the stadium. That's exactly what has happened. Kassam has turned down DE's offer and has specifically stated that he will not sell to one individual. There is absolutely nothing stopping DE making another offer. Whether he wants to offer more (over market value probably!) and whether that would be accepted is debatable, but he could certainly do that. If you are trying to imply that the very fact that there is a community ownership initiative being discussed means that any bid from DE is somehow being sabotaged - the club certainly didn't think that to start with if you believe the quote above. There is absolutely nothing stopping DE from 'finding an alternative' either although the financial cost of playing at Wycombe, Reading or MK (and having to keep paying rent on Grenoble Road, plus the loss of income since crowds would inevitably be lower) makes that financial lunacy IMO.

There are so many incorrect assumptions in there its difficult to know where to start. If you read the earlier messages in this discussion, you will see I have read the statement from OxVox. Daryl Eales has made a number of offers to buy the stadium and is clearly taking a back seat whilst OxVox try to negotiate, presumably to prevent making those negotiations more difficult. OxVox have involved OCC, which is a big mistake. OCC don't have money to throw around, so their involvement just complicates and slows the whole process. OxVox involving OCC indicates that OxVox do not have access to the required funding without OCC. That being the case, OxVox should step aside. Firoz Kassam is in my view playing OxVox like a fish. He is very adept at this. If he wanted to sell the stadium, HoT would have been done long ago. It only benefits Firoz Kassam for there to be no sale of the stadium. If OUFC get promoted he gets double the rent. Otherwise the club is stuck and so is Daryl Eales investment. On top of that Firoz Kassam knows, if the club no longer plays at the Kassam Stadium, for whatever reason be that finance, or desire to play elsewhere, or completion of the license term due to lack of agreement on rent hikes, he has a very valuable piece of land to develop. Based on what has happened so far, I'm not convinced that Firoz Kassam is serious about selling the stadium to anyone and I'm not convinced that OxVox has access to sufficient funding that does not require an investable return. Until we see HoT being agreed, we are no further forwards than we have been in the last 10 years. I don't want the club being taken out of the county under any circumstances short of avoiding bankruptcy. And it isn't really necessary to do so. We can continue playing at The Kassam Stadium until a new stadium is built, if a new stadium is a realistic possibility, or CPF could be upgraded to meet the necessary standards, if that is possible and viable, or we can accept that League 1 is the limit of the club under present circumstances.

Cpf, will never happen, WE could but either way Darryl is not working towards either, there is no other plan other than oxvox getting community ownership. What part of that don't you understand

Talk about wild and inaccurate assumptions. Where to start?? Daryl Eales has made a number of offers to buy the stadium and is clearly taking a back seat whilst OxVox try to negotiate, presumably to prevent making those negotiations more difficult. How is that the case? It clearly states that DE continued with further bids while OxVox were working on the alternative plan. The board are now looking at other options, including relocating out of the county, how is that standing aside? The Board actually decided not to investigate WE when the first arrived when the deemed the stadium issue less important. Do any of their press releases sound like they are standing aside and not rocking the boat? OxVox have involved OCC, which is a big mistake. OCC don't have money to throw around, so their involvement just complicates and slows the whole process.Big mistake? How do you work that out? OCC need to be involved whatever happens at the ground. There will clearly be planning issues that persuade Kassam to let the ground go for a reasonable rate, maybe even some more land involved. The council also has access to funds and grants that could offer us low interest loans to help with the purchase. Of course they are taking things slowly, they got burned last time and I for one would rather they got it right this time.OxVox involving OCC indicates that OxVox do not have access to the required funding without OCC. That being the case, OxVox should step aside.Again, a really strange comment. If OCC can offer us a very low interest loan why would that be an issue. OxVox can't fully gauge what can be raised from the fans until they have a framework to put to people. They might be able to raise a large chunk of the funds through supporters for all we know.Firoz Kassam is in my view playing OxVox like a fish. He is very adept at this. If he wanted to sell the stadium, HoT would have been done long ago.Your view and you are full entitled to it but do you really think he would waste his time and money messing about if he were not interested in what he could get out of the deal, which incidentally, given that OCC are involved, could be huge.It only benefits Firoz Kassam for there to be no sale of the stadium.
Nonsense. The main development land would most likely not even be where the ground sits. If this deal is done right he may well get to sell the ground for decent money AND get development rights over a much larger bit of land. How is that of no benefit to him?? Where did you read that the rent doubles in the championship? I don't have the figures to hand but I suspect you made that one up. It goes up for sure, but doubles, i'm pretty sure not.Based on what has happened so far, I'm not convinced that Firoz Kassam is serious about selling the stadium to anyone and I'm not convinced that OxVox has access to sufficient funding that does not require an investable return. Until we see HoT being agreed, we are no further forwards than we have been in the last 10 years.
So ongoing discussions, joint public statements and a broad consensus over how to proceed is no further forward than being in a court battle with the owner and him saying he won't sell to an individual?

What part of that don't you understand There you go, you've made me laugh again. Have you ever tried stand up? Daryl Eales has made several offers to buy the stadium. How could that be described as taking a back seat? OCC can't offer planning as that is subject to an independent planning committee and planning process. OCC cannot offer land as they don't own any of it. A guarantee to loan is of no use if the interest alone on the loan would amount to more than the rent already being paid, let alone the capital repayments. That would put the club in a far worse position. That's why funds that do not require an investable return are required. Funds only a long term investor in the club could provide. The part of your final paragraph I don't understand is any of it because it is nonsense and based on nothing more than thoughts in your head.

So ongoing discussions, joint public statements and a broad consensus over how to proceed is no further forward than being in a court battle with the owner and him saying he won't sell to an individual?Very little of that is based on any reality at all and it is far too long to reply to. See my reply to OUFCYellows, which deals with all those points.

Daryl Eales has made a number of offers to buy the stadium and is clearly taking a back seat whilst OxVox try to negotiate, presumably to prevent making those negotiations more difficult. No. They agreed to do them simultaneously, read the quote. DE is taking a back seat because his offer was rejected. He can make another offer if he wants. He can build a new stadium if he wants. He can move the club if he wants. Not sure how many of those options are viable or even likely though. OxVox have involved OCC, which is a big mistake. OCC don't have money to throw around, so their involvement just complicates and slows the whole process. If the Council had no interest, they wouldn't be involved in the discussions. We do not know what their interest or financial stake might be in this. The council does have other inducements rather than money. Planning for one. Patience. OxVox involving OCC indicates that OxVox do not have access to the required funding without OCC. That being the case, OxVox should step aside. And then you'd have no discussions. According to you OCC shouldn't be involved and neither should OxVox. Firoz Kassam is in my view playing OxVox like a fish. He is very adept at this. If he wanted to sell the stadium, HoT would have been done long ago. You may very well be right. But since Kassam isn't going to sell to DE and the process is costing OUFC absolutely nothing, what harm in OxVox pressing on? It only benefits Firoz Kassam for there to be no sale of the stadium. If OUFC get promoted he gets double the rent. Otherwise the club is stuck and so is Daryl Eales investment. On top of that Firoz Kassam knows, if the club no longer plays at the Kassam Stadium, for whatever reason be that finance, or desire to play elsewhere, or completion of the license term due to lack of agreement on rent hikes, he has a very valuable piece of land to develop. I agree. Kassam benefits. In every scenario. It's HIS stadium, we are contracted to play there and to pay him for the pleasure He has every single trump card. He need do absolutely nothing. Therefore it's obvious that any deal done will be to his benefit. Hugely. The trick is going to be to make sure that is benefits the Club as well. Until we see HoT being agreed, we are no further forwards than we have been in the last 10 years. Again agreed. The situation is exactly as it was - despite the best effort of every owner. You may think OxVox cannot take the process to conclusion - but why not give them the chance? They have said that they will cease the talks and let everyone know should they feel they cannot do this.

I don't have time to keep repeating myself. If you don't agree that is fine. I don't post on here to have arguments or try to persuade people to change their minds. I'm just posting based on my professional experience and the information that is available to me. Sorry I have to go back to dealing with Tax Returns now.

Well no you didn't, but enjoy the tax returns.
Actually, rather than discussing the same thing over and over, let us know what YOU think should happen.
You obviously have the opinion that these talks are bound to fail - is that right?
If so, they should obviously stop.
Then what happens?

There are so many incorrect assumptions in there I don't know where to start either. Darryl is not taking a back seat so as not to affect the deal, he's taking a back seat as that's been his approach to the stadium since day 1. Occ don't have to have the funds to be of use, intact it's highly unlikely they will put money up, what they could offer is planning, land, or a guarantee to a loan like northampton got off their council. Cpf, will never happen, WE could but either way Darryl is not working towards either, there is no other plan other than oxvox getting community ownership. I'm not talking about Darryls offers. I'm talking about what he's doing NOW. But if you wanna go there, please inform us all what theses offers were? Like I've said before I could make fk 3 offers. It's not nonsense, if you read through the thread I would say my thoughts are in line with far more than yours are, so unless the majority of us are all blind to what's going on and all talking nonsense then so be it. But I ask again. You want oxvox to pull out so Darryl can move forward. Please enlighten us to 1/ how that will happen. And 2/ why it can't happen right now simultaneously to what oxvox are doing.

Can someone explain what a community owned stadium would mean for the club?
What are the pros/cons of this for DE versus an outright purchase himself?
I'm unsure whether this would be a good thing for the club or not, although it can't exactly be worse than the current situation

The club Cons - none . (Unless Darryl walks) Pros- the ground will never be split from the club again.

What's stopping DE Buying the stadium from the OXVOX group should the proposed plans go through? Clauses I should imagine. Why would the club want the stadium in private ownership again after spending 15 years trying to get it back
