Consensus is this is going to make the US even weaker. He will cut US defense spending and China is already signing vast amount of trade deals with countries. Even Allies like the Philippines and Malaysia are now siding upto China.

A lot of the 'poorer' areas of the U.K. voted for us to leave the EU. A lot of people I know who are working class are really regretting the choice now. I am sure the Americans will too when they realise they have an sexist, racist, egomaniac running their country for the next 4 years.

Not even that good a businessman, they reckon if he took the money his dad gave him and left it in a bank account, he would be richer today than he is with all the business deals he's done with it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agreed, both deserve not to be presidents. In the whole, US Presidents are just puppets of the various organisations and industries (Banking, Manufacturing, Pro Gun, Abortion, etc).

And he's been bankrupt SIX times. Let's just forget the idea that he's a business genius. The Republicans have control of all arms of government in the US. They can push laws through andand can appoint Supreme Court judges at will. Let's hope Trump is getting at least some sane advice.

The Senate and House votes are arguably bigger results. The mandate is there for change now, something Obama didn't have. I had a sly feeling Trump would perform better than the polls suggested they would and I was right. He won bigly.
Someone without experience has just got the biggest political job in the world. Wow. If that is not a message that people don't want the establishment any more, I don't know what is.
I am laughing at my Facebook feed slightly. Plenty of yanks looking to move to Canada slagged of Brits for doing just that in June.

One thing I couldn't correlate was the amount of people going to see Trump at rallies vs the polls. Something was off there. Clinton struggled to get reasonable numbers to go to see her speak, Trump had people queuing early around blocks.

God bless America, got a feeling they may need it. why how come if Clinton wins its fine yet trump who is a successful businessman is all downhill goes to show who controls our financial markets doesn't it Where to start. Well for one he is not the genius businessman he or his supporters would have you believe. He inherited a very successful business from his father and his fortunes have been mixed since then 'An analysis of Trump's business career by The Economist in 2016, concludes that his "...performance [from 1985 to 2016] has been mediocre compared with the stock market and property in New York", noting both his successes and bankruptcies.' He has also promised to build a wall to keep Mexicans out of America, called them rapists, claimed he just 'grabs women by the pussy' (the silver tongued charmer), Has been accused of sexual assault on several occasions and many are ongoing, calls Putin a friend and a great leader, has incited violence at his rallies, mocked a disabled reporter, had a disabled kid thrown out of a rally, had a fake 'university' that was forced to close under an avalanche of law suits, and has a well documented history of failing to pay people who have done work for him. The list goes on and on but more worryingly he revels in politics of hate and has managed to engage his supporters to do the same. I lived and worked in the States for a few years and this will divide the country even further.

One thing I dont get is Trump is against FTA's and US companies that have offshore locations. He wants more employment at home. But what we have seen is people in the UK, Singapore and other countries dont want the low paid jobs and would rather stay at home. Thus US companies are going to have to pay more or get government incentives which could make them uncompetitive or lead to higher costs and prices.
Personally I can see Trump not making the full term and Pence becoming President

Cheer up Danny, you've beaten him in 2,elections. Also, he talks down to everyone. I try to treat everyone equally. From now on, Danny will be my personal barometer on world affairs. He always picks the winning side. Farage for PM next.

An amazing result. Not in a good way.
I can't help thinking that the Democrats lost this election rather than the Republicans winning it. Trump managed to alienate women, Hispanic people, the disabled, anyone to the left of Ghengis Khan (etc) and still won. Clinton is unlikable and arrogant, a Washington insider (when that is exactly what people didn't want), with absolutely no personal charisma and various unresolved legal difficulties hanging over her. I cannot believe they couldn't find someone (anyone!) better to run.
Trump was a laughing stock and seemingly unelectable; even many in hi sown party didn't want him. But (as with Brexit) people have voted against conventional politics and conventional politicians. The political parties on both sides of the pond, and elsewhere, need to rethink - and quickly.

Seems the pollsters don't look in the right places for none-voters who are going to vote. Mandate-wise, you are right. Now the election is over the BBC is doing analysis of Trumps policies and I heard: the median wage is USA is lower than it was in 1999 (half of US citizens are worse off) and Trump has an infrastructure-based plan for rebuilding and job creation. I'd have voted for him based on those figures, were I not one of the 1%.

‘If I were to run (for President), I’d run as a Republican. They’re the dumbest group of voters in the country. They believe anything on Fox News. I could lie and they’d still eat it up. I bet my numbers would be terrific.’
Quote - Donald Trump (People Magazine 1998)
Say it all really. God bless America, god help the rest of us.
