Oz are hardly going to be quaking in their boots. And yeah, Stokes FFS. Still needs to be in the squad though - reports now he’s broken his hand, to boot.

And to be fair, Oz are really not that great either. But bringing Ballance and Vince in is waving a big white flag in the middle order. Over to you Mooen and Woakes!
Stokes keeps saying he's grown up, but hasn't all the way. I saw reports of a broken hand which would screw up the Ashes royally. You have to question the intelligence of some people at times.

I find it strange that Craig Overton is given a potential debut after Bayliss said nobody would be selected who hadn't been around the squad in the last 18 months, especially as Jamie Porter Essex's fast bowler from the side who are champions has been overlooked, but then again understanding the selectors thought processes is not easy most of the time!

Vince has a lower average in county cricket than Jeetan Patel this season and will be at no 3 in the Ashes. I believe Overton has been in the squad/around the team in the past couple of years but Ball played instead of him.
Sky had a proper slag of both Stokes and the Ashes squad. Not seen them being that negative in a long time.

Stokes is a complete bell-end, but bell-ends can often win you matches - That's why he was picked. Botham and Freddie Flintoff were both maverick all-rounders, and then there's KP too.

Aggers reckons it's the worst squad we've ever sent down under. He might not be wrong.
Our only hope would seem to be our middle order scoring a ton of runs to bail us out from top order collapses (and to be fair, our 6-7-8-9 batsmen are exceptional for those spots), whilst our ageing seamers have one more great series in them, alongside Stokes, to restrict the Aussie scoring.
Plus, of course, this is not a great Aussie side. They might not even be good.
But I fear this will not end well for England.....especially if Stokes has injured himself and/or ends up in court in December.

I worry about Broad as I think he has lost quite a lot of what made him so excellent as a bowler. Perhaps the Aussies will rile him enough to get him going again!

Even Botham questioned Stokes stupidity. For the man who was, and probably still is, indiscreet to say the least, says a lot. His phrase was build yourself a bat cave in your hotel room and never leave in the evening, then no one will be able to put you into a position like he had in the night club. Clearly Root has significant sway for him to retain the vice captaincy. I am glad to see Foakes is in the touring squad.

Botham is in his 60s now, so I would like to think he has matured a bit now, but back in the day he was no angel. "Botham was a volatile character in his youth and lost his temper when he overheard former Australia captain Chappell boasting of his country's superiority over England in a bar. The incident occurred after the centenary Test in Melbourne in 1977, when Botham had been playing Down Under on a youth scholarship programme. Botham was angered by Chappell's remarks and ended up punching him, knocking him over a table and then chasing after him outside, hurdling the bonnet of a car in the process." "While playing state cricket for Queensland, Botham was charged with assault on a flight to Perth for the Sheffield Shield final in 1987. A row had broken out between the players on the plane and another passenger nearby stood up to complain. Botham told him to mind his own business and pushed him back down into his seat. A complaint was later made and criminal proceedings instigated. Queensland cut short Botham's three-year contract after the incident." www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cricket/international/england/12013536/Ian-Botham-at-60-controversies-best-quotes-career-highs-and-9-things-you-didnt-know-about-England-star.html

Suspended from a meaningless series and by the rest of it happens, they are hoping it's settled down.
If Stokes go to Oz, we'll be sending him to a convict colony...

Well yes, but (as far as disciplinary measures by the ECB are concerned) what on earth were they doing outside a nightclub at 2.30am in the middle of an international series? Stokes especially has been warned about his conduct before - you wonder how many other times he has been this unprofessional but not been caught! He is an idiot, Hales perhaps slightly less of one.
