Oxvox
I don't know if you have input to the merchandising side with the club but if you do.....could you ask them to revert to alternating the renewal of shirts to once every two years. One of the reasons that I haven't been buying shirts recently is that they only last for one season. Alternatively given the recent insourcing of the shirt production and pricing control this provides, they could look to reduce pricing to say £25/£30 if they wish to keep changing the shirts each year.
In addition, it would be great if the kids shirts are very sensibly priced.
Thanks
Wallop

Thanks Wallop hi wallop - this is an issue oxvox raised with the club a few years ago after a member survey (you can see what members had to say there here: www.oxvox.org.uk/UserFiles/Image/ShirtStadiumsurveysummary10Jan2012.pdf). at the time the club felt a new design of shirt every season was something some fans liked, and pointed to shirt sales as evidence of this. i think the deal with justsport also tied their hands at least to some degree. with a change of management there may be a change of view here, and i'm sure the issue will be raised again with the clu - if nothing else to understand the thinking and whether the change of supplier means there are different options for the club in regard to design change and pricing.

I personally have no problem with the club changing the kits every season. It's extra revenue and fans can always buy the shirt every other year if that suits them.

I think shirts should be changed every 2 years but the club could still bring out a new shirt every year by bringing out a new Home shirt one year and a new Away shirt the following year. These days there are usually different sponsors for the home and away kits so the club could offer 2 year packages on both.
Ideally with regards to sponsorship I would like to see the home shirt be sponsored by the same company for more than 1 year at a time. It has been stupid the amount of different shirt sponsors we have had recently.

I personally have no problem with the club changing the kits every season. It's extra revenue and fans can always buy the shirt every other year if that suits them. I think it's more the fact that the shirt is only the same as that worn by the team for one season, more than the expense... Although that is also relevant. The best and fairest way is to alternate the a new home and away shirt every year. If the club are just out to maximise revenue regardless of the fans, then change both every year...

When did we last have a third kit? Doesn't feel like we've had one for a few seasons now.

We have a meeting with the clubs commercial team in a couple of weeks time and will discuss everyone's comments then and report back!

As the club is changing suppliers, presume it won't be this season. Agree it should be one new kit a season, alternating home and away.

No problem with it as long as we have decent kit

As the club is changing suppliers, presume it won't be this season. Agree it should be one new kit a season, alternating home and away. This is a difficult one... Yes alternating new home and away strips would be a fairer policy for fans, but the club has limited revenue streams and need to maximise their retail options. I appreciate the issues of kids 'pester power', but nobody is forcing anybody to buy the shirts. Typically kit deals last 2-3 years, so keeping to an alternating policy is difficult, as a new kit supplier will always want their garments featured in both kits. The alternating kit policy is further complicated with changes to shirt sponsors. I think the best compromise would be to keep the shirt colours consistent. At least then, fans who don't want to buy a new kit will still feel their 'old' shirt is relevant. Our 2010 yellow/blue striped shirt and the 2013 gold shirts are a good example of the club being too inconsistent.

Is it a stupid idea for us to give the club ideas on apparel? I am sure they could make them cheaper than we could but at least the designs might be better?

Obviously if you have new kits every season and everyone buys both or one then that's all profit but as I said earlier I would buy the new one every season when it lasted for two seasons alternating between the home and away shirt! Now as the shirt only lasts for one season I very rarely buy one at all unless I really like the design and colour.

That was just the 09/10 2nd kit, wasn't it? Have we ever had a special kit simply to be the 3rd kit? Yes, you are correct in that it was the same design as 09/10. In '09 the white shirts were Buildbase sponsored, and in '10 it was a third choice shirt featuring Bridle sponsorship. My website oxfordkits.com highlights numerous years when we have worn 3 different shirt colours during a season. That said, I don't believe these were ever advertised for sale as a 'third kit', rather they were the previous/next seasons change colours.

I buy the shirt when it has a collar on it, i dont when its a round neck, and as for the Animalmates logo i flatly refused to look like a yoof wearing that.
Collar with a reasonable sponsor logo and i would purchase every year, otherwise i reserve the right not to follow the soon to be large crowds attending the matches.

So we've had a third kit before, but we've never had a "3rd kit". That most probably puts us in a minority in the Football League.
