This is for Oxvox and all forum members. I can't attend games but want to contribute towards the club and fans. Something that will make a difference. I have emailed the club but they have asked me for suggestions.
Can anyone suggest ways where myself and maybe others can help to make this an even more exciting season that it's shaping up to be. My personal budget is upto 1,000 pounds.
One crazy idea I thought of is putting the money on us either to win the league, get promoted or top 7. If whatever bet comes off, then the winnings would be given to the club or something for the fans?
Any thoughts or ideas would be welcome

Something I think is worth considering is donating to the Youth and Community Trust. As I am a UK taxpayer, the charity can reclaim gift aid, and I get extra tax relief on my tax return. (I appreciate this may be seen as tax dodging, choosing where my tax goes rather than all in one pot to the government to spend on what it sees fit). For instance a £100 donation to Y&CT means the club gets £120, and I get £20 tax back, so net cost to me is £80 for a £120 benefit to Y&CT.
As I am not self-employed / a company / VAT registered, sponsoring a player's shirt for instance means that the VAT is a cost and also I can't claim it as 'advertising', if that's what other commercial sponsors do. Here a £100 sponsorship would end up as £83 for the club after VAT, at a cost of £100 to me.
I tweeted the club to suggest they add a 'donate to Y&CT' on the online ticket booking system, for instance 50p or £1 (or any other amount) or nothing if you don't want to.

Hi HKYellow!
We'll also pop this out directly to members (we've found, rather surprisingly, that not everyone reads this forum!)
We're keen (as are the club), to look at ways of improving match day atmosphere and the overall fan experience. Perhaps there's something along those lines that we can do?
Thinking caps on!
Cheers
Jem

I like Bacon's comment above.
Maybe the club would let you buy a block of 5 or 6 seats for the season. These could then be given to a different family each week. Families in need. Im thinking of a single mum with 3 or 4 kids maybe who would love to take the kids to the footy but cant afford it or give them to a family where dad has passed away and he used to take the kids up there, kid who is recovering from serious illness and a day out would help the recovery process.
Could be made VIP's for the day, section in the program, mention at half time.

Good idea Slappy It could have been tacked on as an optional donation to the season ticket renewal too. For instance, we have cut your price by £15, would you like to donate this saving to Y&CT?

Why not buy a few season tickets, then OxVox could hold a raffle with the season tickets going to the winners and the monies raised going to the club as well as the monies from the season tickets?

Why not buy a few season tickets, then OxVox could hold a raffle with the season tickets going to the winners and the monies raised going to the club as well as the monies from the season tickets? I visited The ICE Centre in Carterton yesterday and talked 'shop' (Oxford obviously), it's a Social Enterprise for Disabled people providing them with Day and Weekend Care. www.facebook.com/theicecentre.co.ukPolythene UK last season helped them alot and treated a small group to a home game. Maybe something like several Season Tickets using the new pricing, and/or to see if with OxVox's involvement 'we' can get a better deal for a group block of season tickets to take their students to matches every week? Just an idea. They use donations to take their disabled persons to the Theatre and alike.

Alternatively Give the £1000 to me and I will film all home games for u on my phone from ssu, and email them to you while also wearing a cardboard mask with your face on to get some selfie's with players Seriously, the season ticket for a deserving charity or something to use is a great idea. Or maybe buy a load of first team shirts to supply a team in a deprived area or country. (Not sure how much of that money the club gets )

Note to self: join OxVox
As a semi-exile (70 miles away), I do have season ticket, I have often thought about this.
What about a link to education? Combine with the club to buy tickets (five?) for a different primary school each week. I have never sat in the North Stand, but it would be important that the atmosphere was appropriate, e.g. in terms of bad language.

I am sure we can get the primary school kids to tone it down a bit for 90mins...

But what suggestion most benefits the club? Clearly and hopefully the management and board are fully behind the club so I would like to play my part as a supporter.

I have just bought 2 season tickets for South Stand Upper. 1 Adult and 1 under 18. Cost 499GBP. Please let me know your ideas and suggestions on what we can do with them.

Of the ideas so far, I like the idea of holding a raffle for the tickets as this will raise funds for the club if that is the key priority. If, however, the priority is to help get people to a game that wouldn't be able to without financial help then the raffle idea doesn't work.

Great spirit from our exiled fans. #Together I'd still recommend looking at disadvantaged people, disabled people, end of life scenarios, people with social needs as a way to help these folk, most of which football is unaffordable, to enjoy something they might not be able to experience. Young children and adults who need support etc. Let OxVox know if you'd like them to help in anyway.

Oxvox could organise a "lucky dip", match by match, for the volunteers who work at local charities/organisations rather than those they help. People tend to forget those who freely give up their time to help others and many such groups are reliant on the volunteers.

Hi Mate, I will try, especially if we are near promotion and playoffs. I am over in the second week of June but that's to see my Mum who has been unwell. I will also look to sponsor a player with fellow forum members and do one on my own.
I feel it's only fair, as am sure most supporters will spend nearly a grand over a season. Home games, going away, travel to the stadium and away matches, food, kits, etc.
It would be great if we could have a pre season event where my season tickets, plus things from the club and any other items could be auction off.
But part of the reason I got one adult and one under 18 is so a father or mother and son or daughter could attend a match.

I know it's not necessarily charitable, but TBFUTH who have put a lot of work in on the flags this year are always open to donations and even a small amount like £20 can go a long way in producing a banner or the like. Helps improve the match day experience for a lot of others and keeps things ticking over as these lads put a lot of work in and most of the time it is there own money but I know it is appreciated by almost all the support.

I agree. Even at home I feel it adds to the atmosphere when you have various flags around the place. Its a shame since we have spare capacity around the stadium there isnt a area where we can display flags. Similar to when England travel and you see Union Jacks/St Georges with English Clubs and Names.

People tend to forget those who freely give up their time to help others and many such groups are reliant on the volunteers. I like this idea. What would be both a nice philanthropic idea and also nifty marketing would be something along the lines of: 1. Approach 23 local charities and offer them the tickets for a deserving star volunteer and their kid 2. The club offer their friends slightly discounted tickets so they can go with them. Good up sell for Oxford and creates the chance the group or some attending may enjoy it and start going regularly 3. The club have a small piece in the programme about the charity 4. The Oxford Mail have a running column for each of the games that highlights the important work of the charity, why that volunteer is special, and how they enjoyed their matchday experience (bit of free marketing) Lots of winners all round?
