What is your problem with larger women? They should be able to buy lingerie, just like everyone else you awful, awful man. No problem at all, as my nomination for poster girl suggests, just perhaps not in QUITE such a historical setting You are correct and wrong all at once . It is a historical setting but mostly because it's where all Oxfords young gents started off their subbuteo collections spending hours down in boswells basement choosing which apparatus to purchase next

Perfect, unless the line "Swindon are the Devil's Dumplings" could be used instead - now THAT would be a great T-shirt!

He's also the reason you're not typing in German... I think the majority of OUFC fans would be proud to say Churchill was from Oxfordshire, surely? Agree 100% A son of Oxfordshire, we should be proud, and as I say done the right way it would cracking If we had an online vote then it would decide things, instead of being shouted down by those who made this 'political' when it was nothing of the sort!! I think we should stick a big poppy on it as well.would look great at the back of the East Stand.

Personally I would prefer a Obama out flag. After all its him and his government who got rid of London welsh.
Apperently WE is marked as a possible site for oil so he wants us well away and staying at the Kassam.

So,
Description followed by "text for flag"
1- Churchill "We'll fight them on the pitches" 2- Cavalier riding an OX "Oxford once proud capital of England" 3- Ryan Taylor as a T-Rex (with tiny arms) "T Rex" 4- Max Crocombe in leather (Mad Max) 5- Hoban with sunglasses (Hobanator) 6- Han Solo and Chewbacca in Yellow kit "Chewie we're home" 7- Joe Skarz with a eyepatch and skull and crossbones "Skaaaaaarz" (dont know why but Skarz works as a pirate)

Churchill one is fine with me personally but clearly upsets a few so maybe meh. Only question with 2 is if we played Reading it could be seen as Royals on top of us. Ox alongside the Cavalier or possibly I'm overanalysing it? Probably better to have a non player one as it then has a longer shelf life. Edit: Also think the Miriam Margoyles idea is a good one by Greenmurphy but with the "Swindon is the devil's dumplings" comment.

What about a picture of the famous scarface poster with Al Pacino replaced by skarz and then "Skarzface" emblazoned across the top.
I like 2 above but still think Churchill with a big fat cigar burning a Robin would be awesome

Stephen Hawking was born in Oxford. So was Hugh Laurie.
Wentworth Miller from Prison Break was born in Chipping Norton. Maybe we have a League 2 Prison Break banner.

This thread started as 'Was anyone really famous born in Oxfordshire?' Well obviously that has to be Roy Burton, who was born in Wantage. I vote for Burtie's visage on the flag. Wantage was in Berkshire until 1974 so unfortunately he doesn't qualify

If you want to take Oxfordshire as it is now, ignoring the fact that most of the South of the county used to be in Berkshire and even further back was Wessex,(While Oxfordshire was Mercia). Then surely Churchill doesn't come close to King Alfred, born in Wantage, whats a few Nazi's on the other side of the channel compared to hordes of marauding Vikings raping and pillaging through the country ? Lester Piggott was the first boy born in Wantage hospital, perhaps we could have the "Longfellow" riding Nijinsky in yellow and blue ? Richard the Lionheart was born in Oxford, perhaps we could have a banner of him slaughtering Muslims in Jerusalem on one of his crusades ? Now if people think a banner of Churchill would upset the PC brigade, what would that do ?

Now if people think a banner of Churchill would upset the PC brigade, what would that do ? We love reopening old wounds on this forum! No idea who the "PC Brigade" are, but my objection to Churchill was that because someone was born in Oxfordshire doesn't make them a suitable figurehead for Oxford United Football Club. If you could ask Winnie what he thought of the idea, I'm sure he'd say, in his usual charming, folksy way, that he couldn't give a toss about the game or the club. Churchill wasn't very PC himself, after all.

He even married Kevin Costner and Maid Marion in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves,(I don't understand if he was born in Oxford, why did he have a Scottish accent ?)

It made me think that someone who doesn't seem to understand the difference between nazis and vikings was fishing. Am I PC? Viking is a verb, not a group of people. I dunno. The old joke - Red-nosed man to gamine nymphette "Do you like Kipling?". GN - "I don't know, I've never kippled." doesn't quite come off. I suppose - Red-nosed man to gamine nymphette "Do you like the Viking hordes?". GN - "I don't know, I've never hoarded Vikings." might work for the likes of Stephen Fry I would touch it with yours.
