Is your watch fast by 10mins EEB? No, the 1030 sports news mentions us signing Campbell, but nothing about another announcement. But EEB that is 15 mins before 10.45 and Tatabanya says 10.45 so it must be true lol

I think it's just an interview with Campbell. Probably but I fear it may sound just like Gazza slurred slow and that's without a drink inside. Will someone interpret for us southerners.

This must mean Barnett's time is up at the end of his loan? Can't imagine shipping Hylton out when he's top scorer, but possibly Potter?

This must mean Barnett's time is up at the end of his loan? Can't imagine shipping Hylton out when he's top scorer, but possibly Potter? Agreed about Barnett. Hylton, Campbell, Hoban (January), Roberts (when fit) and Hoskins (when fit) should see us through to the end of the season as far as strikers are concerned. It's a bit of a recurring theme that managers whose teams don't score sign more strikers, when in fact what they need is more people capable of creating chances! I'd hope any other loan in today is a central midfielder - although I still think that Collins and Howard (as opposed to Rose and Whing) would be more mobile and threatening. As for Potter - I wouldn't be surprised. I know wingers are traditionally inconsistent, but Alfie takes that to extremes! Brown night also be trying his luck elsewhere I'd have thought. I'd like us to keep Meades - there must be more there than we've made use of so far? And Raynes - I actually think he's really well suited to L2 football, but since we have a new lad there I think he might be on his way. Someone will get a decent defender if they take him.

Just a note of caution here. He scored 1 in 12 for Darlo in the BSP. So lets not put all our hopes on this lad, not yet anyway. I agree with others on here who think we need more chances created from midfield. No striker would have had a good day last Saturday with the non service. Even a natural goalscorer would have drawn a blank. I wish him all the best and hope he has a really successful time here.

Sounds great but another slight note of caution. BBC site says:
His boss at Jarrow Roofing, Richie McLoughlin, said he was confident Campbell could make the step up to league football. "He's got more potential then people think," McLoughlin told BBC Radio Oxford. "He's laid back, but with full time training and a proper physio which he needs to keep him right, I think he'll do a great job. "I told Michael Appleton, if you get this lad fit he will get you the goals you need. He has got pace, he can read the game and most importantly he can put the ball in the back of the net. He will make the step up with ease."
So does this mean get him fit for L2 or does he have any injury issues?

Johnny Campbell probably only trains twice a week. His ex-manager means he needs to get league two match fitness and that means full time training with the U's to achieve that.

Good to take a gamble. If it doesn't work out it won't have cost us much.
Right winger and holding midfielder next!!!

Probably the most unknown quantity of the three non-leaguers that we've signed. Dunkley is young and only one level lower that us and Hoban is coming with a pedigree for scoring at a level akin to us (supposedly), so this is a major step up for Campbell.
It's a low risk signing, although of the three this is probably the least likely to pay off, in my opinion. Happy to be proven wrong though.
