Maybe that's the reason that even with a larger crowd the atmosphere from our support is basically crap.
We are the left side, we are the right side, and Na Na Na Na Oxford is about it!
Been saying for ages we should adopt a song as a club anthem like many clubs do, such Delilah at Stoke

There are a few more than just them problem is not many people know the words that's why you always find the na na na bit of in the mixer song or the na na na bit of since I was young song much louder than the actual worded part

We have songs, we just lack people to sing them!
Saying that, I definitely remember our songs being better back in the nineties. Perhaps that was partly down to us having closer banter/rivalry with the teams we were playing rather coming up against the 'newer' league teams that we find ourselves playing against these days.

Anyone else getting fed up with the "I wanna go home" song? Gets sung an awful lot, probably because we lack a wider repertoire. Perhaps we should save it for places that really are shitholes (like Hartlepool) rather than the majority of away towns that are just run of the mill; might have more impact, particularly if sung three or four times rather than thirty or forty.

We actually have a lot more songs than most clubs. The lads at the top of the stand try and sing new songs (most songs being pretty simple too) yet our fans have no idea how to sing in tune and learn basic lyrics.
Not to mention most that were stood up against Wycombe just stood there in silence. Very frustrating. Do we have to let the football impact on the atmosphere SO much? Can't we just have a decent sing song, create a good atmosphere every game whatevers happening on the pitch?

I wonder what our players think when they hear it sung. We don't like it here and we would rather go home than watch you play the full 90.

There are occasions when we are in great voice, but I wish it was more often.
I fancy myself as a bit of a singer, and I loved the London rd days. We have loads of songs but the next generation (not just oufc fans i might add) are quite insular souls and I think they lack the confidence and conviction to belt the songs out like the lads did who have now got a bit older.
We sing everything so fast that I'm never likely to learn any words to new songs! Most importantly we must slow it down and sing more confidently as a group of fans. That would do the atmosphere the world of good.
The songs I remember from my teens are...and they were often ear splitting.
Gary glitter, cmon cmon United (clap clap clap) United (clap clap clap) Nappy starting give us an o -x-f-o-r-d Come on you yellows (at corners) We love you Oxford we do Eieiei o Let's go f*cking mental ( bundling wildly, I did my ankle ligaments vs Pompey in 92-93) Chim chiminey We hate Swindon and we hate Swindon When the little red robbin Come and join us And were Oxford united, Oxford united fc The u's are staying/going up Super super Jonny lager (danny hylton) If your standing on the corner My old man said be a Swindon fan Cmon Oxford cmon Oxford
I know there are tonnes more...

In the latter 60's there was the ' best team in the land' song Which lasted well into the 70s
We got Jimmy Barron number one,we got Jimmy Barron number one, we got Jimmy Barron number one, we got the best team n the land..... Running through the entire team ... Of course it was pre squad numbers and only one substitute on the bench....so not as easy or straightforward to revive or re activate in today's era of squad numbers, hyphenated double barrelled names and unpronounceable 'foreign imports'
Last time I recall hearing it sung was when it started, we got Roy Burton number one....

I don't really like the newer songs. You don't need a large number of songs, just ones which are easy to pick up, it's not the fecking X Factor.
I started watching Oxford in the 90's and the only songs we used to sing regularly were: C'mon, C'mon, Oxford (Gary Glitter) or just C'mon Oxford. C'mon you Yellloooows at corners. Oxford United! the greatest football team... We love you Oxford... Swindon town is falling down... Individual Player songs like, We've got Joey joey joey Beauchamp on the wing... etc etc Manager songs XXXXX Yellow & Blue Army (at a decent tempo not too fast so that no-one can keep up!!). ..and obviously the p*ss take of the ref, away players and managers songs.
I can't stand the "I wanna go home", monotonous and isn't really supporting the team. Sorry just my opinion.

Sorry just my opinion. The original lyrics are "Don't wanna go home, don't wanna go hoooome, this is the best trip, I've ever been on!" But after a few renditions of calling places "Sh*tholes", that verse changed for good, annoyingly. I agree with you, its dull, worn out and doesn't support the team, it was brilliant at Leeds but since then I'd rather we sung something else. I actually think we do need new songs, it's nice to have a large mix because ours do get rather dull after a while. I love "since I was young", the chorus sounds brilliant. Agree that our fans have some weird habit of singing and clapping way too quickly, and every song seems to get faster and faster till it fizzles out. Slow down, keep it going and make it last 10-15 minutes I say

I agree about them though. Repetitively boring. Save it for a couple of renditions when we play somewhere that is genuinely a shithole, like Hartlepool, rather than places that are just run of the mill towns.

I don't think that it helps having the away fans in the corner. I know the reasons for it historically but someone with eyesight like mine can't actually see the away fans - let alone get any atmosphere going against them

I love our fans, but I think we need to be a bit more epic on the terraces and hopefully our team will be more epic on the pitch. Now I'm not saying we aren't loyal or supportive but we can be better. Since Nappy left us, there has been a huge void left to fill. He helped regulate what we sang, how fast we sang it and most importantly at what stage of the match. People have talked about feeling anxious at oufc games, which is foreign to me as I spent alot of time engrossed in the London road terrace antics (I actually missed John durnins 4th goal v Luton in the 90's due to rife camaraderie) instead of watching the game!
We have the numbers, the passion and the songs, and I'm sure we have a terrace leader somewhere...

Been saying for ages we should adopt a song as a club anthem like many clubs do, such Delilah at Stoke The word on the street from Charlie the shoe shine man is that during the 1970s, "When You're Smiling" the old Louis Armstrong song came close to becoming an anthem, though I'm distressed to read just now that it's also been adopted by Leicester. It has all the elements of being a classy choice, and I hope we could choose and adopt something of similar ilk.

There was talk of trying to get it going again three or four years ago, but it never really happened. Those of us that know it (and love it) are not really the type to start songs now, and I think it needs adopting by the younger element.
