shame about today. definitely dropped points.
also disappointing, according to one of the fans at the game calling in on RADOX, is that the players and MAPP didn't collectively thank them at the end of the game for their support - call it trivial but i think the players should show their thanks! - pull your finger out MAPP and get that sorted!!!

That was not the case! The players were clearly as distraught as we were at the end of the game and they DID come across and applaud the fans.

Think Barnett is going to be another smalley/ craddock. A great game showing what they can do, followed by 2 or 3 games where u wonder how the hell he ever became a footballer Yeah, get rid, p'boro fans are correct about him I presume neither of you were there? Barnett put a real shift in and some of his touches were different class. Don't judge the game from the radio or other peoples' comments.

Is Barnett the new Smalley in terms of boo boy?
He was being ridiculed by sections at Northampton even though he was wining and using the ball well..
I'd also say he's still building match sharpness haven hardly kicked a ball prior to joining us.
As for Appleton and throwing away a point, well I like the approach. If we'd have won it would have been 3 from 3 following Cambridge and the place would have been buzzing ( still should be after the week we've just had ) he like others, thought Carlisle were there for the taking.
If we want to go up this season we need to win games of football rather than settle for a point 70 minutes out. If we'd have won it late say through Roberts, would these questions still be asked or would it be down to a tactical master stroke by the manager??

Would you have brought on Roberts for Barnett rather than Rose or not made a substitution at all? He tired a bit, but to be fair they all did. It was very difficult conditions and had been a long journey. No one really knows if the virus around the club had an effect too. None of that is meant to be an excuse by the way. I felt as if all of the players gave their all, including Barnett, and thought that he looked closer (but not there yet) to match fitness. It's probably going to take another couple of games. He is a real handful and I don't think we've seen the best of him yet. The substitution I would have made would have been Roberts for Hylton. He (Hylton) was out on his feet for the last 20/25 minutes and needed to be bought off. That's not to say there was anything wrong with his performance, but you could see he was struggling. Rose was having a decent game, and if he'd stayed on the midfield would not have been overrun, they would not have gained the momentum that they did, and we would have probably won, but at least drawn the game. I'm not being wise after the event, I said the same to my mate at the time and he agreed. Roberts looks a real find, by the way.

Shame for the fans that travelled not only to see us lose, but in the manner we lost when we could have had at least one point never mind all 3 points. That would have hurt me more than the players not clapping the fans at the end of the game.

He reminded me a little of the young Ashley Barnes when he was on loan with us. Full of running, quite physical for a young lad, and not afraid to have the ball or have a go.

Would a loan move for a month help him?

Would a loan move for a month help him? It wouldn't help us. We're short of strikers anyway with Morris gone and hylton and Barnett looking knackered at the end of most games

Am I disappointed? Yes. Do I regret going? No. Gutted I missed Northampton. We threw the game away and invited them on to us. To be honest we will get the odd result but we will remain near the bottom.

The worrying thing is that we seem to concede late crucial goals but, if we exclude the League Cup, never seem to score them. If we're ahead or even drawing, we are hanging on. If we're losing, we're not offering a similar threat. Didn't go yesterday, but that's been my impression of games seen this year.

Raynes should f come on after their first goal we may have got a point listened on the radio and it sounded like our goal was being battered in the last 10 minutes, MAPP should look long and hard at the replay to make sure late goals are not conceded again?
