Would have loved it if he became Oxford manager when Wilder left, but then we had a chairman with no ambition for the club. Will do well at B'Ham His stock has been rising ever since he took over at Burton, can see him being a premiership manager at a biggish club in the not to distance future.

If I were him I would stick it out and get a promotion with Burton and then see where I'm at in summer. But I'm not him

I agree. Birmingham are a mess at the moment. If you thought our home record under Chris Wilder was bad you should check out Birmingham's. Rowett should stay put if he's got any sense. However I suspect he'll be drawn in by ex-player syndrome.

However I suspect he'll be drawn in by ex-player syndrome. And I'd wager that - even given their financial crackpot status - Birmingham will pay him a lot more than Burton too! Has done a cracking job there though......hard to imagine that they've got a top half wage bill, and yet they've been thereabouts all three years he's been in charge.

Given the fragile security of ANY Managers job in football, Rowett may well be tempted to pocket the undoubted increase in salary and enjoy the fruits while he can. The opportunity to try to restore the fortunes of a genuine "sleeping giant" may well be to tempting to resist. Good luckto him. He'll need it!

His brand of football is horrible! He's more defensive than Wilder! Just look at there results, if they go ahead they normally win by the odd goal. If they go behind they often get beat by 3! That's why they end up near the top with a plus 5 GD!

I fail to see how anyone could question Rowett leaving Burton for Birmingham. Fair enough, Birmingham have problems but Burton or Birmingham ? A total no brainer. Everything at Birmingham will be so much better and professional than Burton. Button are like Cheltenham, Wycombe, Dagenham and teams like that - effectively non league.

It's a big step up from non-league to a big club set up. Apart from Martin o'neill , any notable successes?

I take it you include us in that list Sent from my SM-N9005 using proboards No. why not? those clubs you quoted have all been in league one in the past 10 years apart from Burton who have been closer to getting there than us. Burton set up is very similar to ours with all the sports science and video analysis that they have in place so to say they are non league is wrong Sent from my SM-N9005 using proboards

Did you go to the Playoff Final this year? No? I'm not a Burton or Fleetwood fan? Oh I did, and you were pretty much right. Never seen such a boring game at Wembley (and I watched most of the Euro 2008 qualifying)

Last season they finished in the play-offs with a plus 5 GD and only scored 47 goals in 46 games!!

I would think that anyone who had an eye on the Birmingham job may have had a change of heart. I said earlier that their home record was shocking- but 8-0 is disgraceful!

They were down to 10 men after 7 mins! What was Sunderlands excuse last week?

Did anyone else when they saw the score think 'good, serves them right for the seven they put past us at The Manor'...
And karma is working well after Sunderland getting theirs for the seven they put past us.

I certainly did. And it was nice to see 0-8 rather than 1-7

Didn't they attribute that hammering down to the fact our players lorded it up after we beat them 1-0 away a few weeks beforehand?

That 1-0 win at St Andrew's resulted in me losing a bet and getting my Ox tattoo done. No regrets though.

From what I remember the players warmed up in Santa hats before the game, which really angered them and they thought we weren't taking it seriously.

Turned into a party atmosphere at the stadium of light at 7.0 down Done the conga and joined in with their fans Mexican wave. Got threaten with eviction on the way out by a steward for climbing over a seat. Was Definitely lost on him that we were in the process of leaving anyway

Got threaten with eviction on the way out by a steward for climbing over a seat. Was Definitely lost on him that we were in the process of leaving anyway I was in that conga with you! And incidentally, Look North's report on the game afterwards had videos of the Mexican wave being carried on in our block (quote "even the Oxford fans managed to get into the party atmosphere"). It was only me, my dad and a few others so I guess you were on telly as well. Long before the days of SkyPlus though and we only came to know about it because my grandpa was watching. We also got many beers bought for us by the Mackems afterwards. Great day, apart from the result.
