Been a good October even before the Carlisle game. It would be great to see some effort from the fans for the Wycombe game. Maybe a bit of promotion from the club and see if we can get 6000 home fans for the game. Wycombe might bring close to 2000 so a 8,000 gate would be nice. Oh and of course 3 points against them!

Wycombe to bring 2000? Not a chance. I'd be surprised by 1000...

Agree with the OP. Let's hope that we get something on Saturday.
Even so the club should loom to promote this big time- it will be good to get a really decent crowd again and to be fair the team deserve it.

In the Northampton preview show on Yellow Player - they had one of the new staff who has come in to look at boosting matchday experience/promotions etc. - Georgie I think her name was. Chris Williams asked her about something that will be happening for the Wycombe game but she indicated she wasn't in a position to reveal it yet. I'd guess something will come out in the next couple of days. EDIT: This has just gone on the website www.oufc.co.uk/news/article/00221014-yellow-army-wycombe-2033090.aspxNot ticket promotions but suggestion of increased activities for younger supporters plus flag display.

Hopefully the club can promote the game through the local media, starting Monday after the Carlisle game. Will be interesting to see what other plans they have for the day. The first 'ultimate support day' which I guess is similar to this 'yellow army day' we had a very good home turn out. If we can get a win this Saturday, I can see us getting 6k home fans if it is promoted well. Wycombe will surely bring well over a thousand. Wycombe fan I work with said the other day, they have only been allocated 1,000, but i'm guessing that's an initial allocation.

My son plays for Hinksey Park FC and the club were given several hundred seats for the Wycombe game last month, in the family section. Flat-rate fiver each whether adult or junior; I believe the take up's been very good. Will be involved in the usual flag waving, running around the pitch at half-time. Hope it's an attractive game of football and maybe some of the youngsters attending will catch the bug of supporting their local club, rather than or, more realistically perhaps, as well as a premiership side. Good bit of promotion by OUFC.

So yes whilst it is a great idea they are not going to get a great view, which not encourage them to come back. Really need to get the North Stand opened up more and be able to use "best view in stadium" seats to encourage more people to come.

I expect 1500-1600 Chairboys next week, we always underestimate there following at Oxford, remember the game at Oxford every season is their cup final (not that we have played them that much), Its good to get the home fans back interested, 3 points at Carlisle could see over 1000 return and push the total attendance to around the 7000 mark.

FACT ALERT!!
Kings of Leon played their first ever gig on these shores in that titty bar in Wycombe before they became the superband they are today

Great to see Joe pulling out the stops for this one and the board supporting him. If we beat Carlisle today then the atmosphere could be great vs Wycombe. And any "local" team I would love us to stuff them.

We have sold out all the tickets you're going to give us pre match (1,250) I'd expect nothing less on your 'Big day Out.' Your lot have been punching well above their weight for years, and it would still be satisfying to put you in your place this Saturday. COYY.

Well unlike yourselves we had to earn the right to enter the football league as opposed to wait for another team to go bust! Anyway, whats happened with your lots attendances? I know a guy who used to run a bookies outside your ground but doesn't bother anymore because of the crowds

Post by southstandyellow on Oct 29, 2014 10:24:17 GMT
The bookies that used to be in Haddenham, now gone, used to do the bookies IN the ground (not outside).
