Very early to start a Saturday match thread.
I was thinking along the lines of "this is a watershed match", but it isn't really. Whatever the result and/or performance, nothing will be proved about the squad or management. If we don't win though, I think the mood on this forum and amongst the wider OUFC support could darken.
What we need to see is a sturdy defensive performance and a bit of flair to break down what looks like a resolute Newport defence. I'm optimistic about an enjoyable 1-0 win. Crowd about 4,200 with under 4,000 home fans at an L2 match for the first time in ages.
I'm bringing one of my nephews and his girlfriend along. They've never seen OUFC live before. I've promised them top entertainment, an electric atmosphere and cuisine to die for.

This is just another game of football.
What we need to see is a win, but a draw would be better than a defeat.
What we don't need are phrases like 'must-win', 'Appleton's last chance', 'season defining' blah blah blah.

Pluses not asterisks, PLEASE I realise you're on the optimistic bus, but do you have to look for pluses ALL THE TIME?

I expect we will play well, but still not quite get the win we so desparately crave. PS The mood after 10 games and being sat in the relegation zone is already quite dark.

I may have to go back to a pre-match routine from last year that resulted in a win.
XL Bacon Double Cheese at Burger King, go large.

I've heard of starting a thread early but this is just ridiculous ITS TOO FUKIN EARLY FOR GODS SAKEPossibly. I hoped it might focus people's minds on the fact that we have (another) crucial game on Saturday, rather than creating more understandable and timely yet depressing doom and gloom threads.

I've heard of starting a thread early but this is just ridiculous IT'S TOO FU*KIN* EARLY FOR GOD'S SAKE.Too early- In the day? Pre-match? I disagree with both, You cannot, just cannot start a thread on a match of such magnitude 'Too early.' You can however, improve your grammar, especially when you highlight the errors of your ways by displaying them in very big LETTERS!!!

Is it to early to say who the team will be for Saturday? Or is that tempting fate with the possibility of training ground injury.

Pluses not asterisks, PLEASE Maybe it is just the tweek that we need. Pluses have been found out, so a move to asterisks' enables us to keep the format basically the same, but with a new dynamic. Not so much "Plan B" but more of a "Plan A, revision 1".........

Very early to start a Saturday match thread. . how did you work that out? Because I started it on Monday, which is several days in advance of the match. Typically, match threads would be started on the day of a game, or perhaps the day before. Hope that helps clear things up for you.
