I can always remember at the home game game against Manchester City in the late eighties when we drew 0-0, music by Diana Ross..Chain Reaction....it kind of made up for the otherwise poor draw. Anyone else have vague recollections of pre match music?

The very recent past admittedly but in the Conference Promotion year, the tannoy played Living On a Prayer when we had reached the halfway point of the season and we were top of the league.
It was straight after the final whistle and the chorus booming out "Oh, we're half way there" was presumably meant to be a good omen for us kicking on in the second half of the season and winning the league.
Bloody post-Christmas collapses!

I always remember 'Rock the casbah' being played quite a lot at the Manor when I was a sprog the last 4/5 years there.

I appreciate why we can never play it again, but I used to love it at the Manor before the match when a certain song would pipe up with "Come on, come on, come on, come on..."!

The Liquidator - look it up if you don't know it by name as you are sure to by the tune! Remember away days at Wolves where they would play this before KO and the entire home support would CLAP CLAP CLAP....CLAP! in sync.
SO effective!
We've never really got the music right at home since moving grounds.

Just before the second half there was an unusual dance track played. Think it had a lyric about having a drink. Wondered if it was a deliberate dig at Westley.

Thought Norman Cook had taken over the system more of a club set than football music

I'd like us to also, however I feel it's not really ours to play. We all know what was our song, mentioned above, and I used to love that at the manor, We should find a replacement, but not a rubbish modern effort, the best songs are generally from the 60/70s

I like dark theatrical and progressive, so something like In a heartbeat by john Murphy, followed by Knights of Cydonia by Muse. (which they coincidentally played at Wembley P Off final as the teams came out for the second half!)

Blimey you got a good memory, the only thing they played that I remember clearly was 'I gotta feeling' by the BEP, I went to untie my flag and the intro boomed out and I thought it was just the right song to play at that time. Tonights gonna be a good night...... and it was

late 60s early 70s Mary Hopkins/ Sandie Shaw - those were the days
sung along to, and lyrics changed, by the London Road End for a number of seasons
IMO would be ideal ressurecting/ reintroducing / reviving as 'OUR' song
that said, only those of us who were there when Mary Hopkins version eclipsed Sandie Shaws version in the UK singles charts AND became a London Road end favourite chant will know what Im talking about re 'those were the days' ( from 1969-73/74 ish if memory serves)
tis simple lyrics ( as in easy to learn and remember), a chorus that builds n builds, & back in the day it sounded awesome belted out from the London road end!!!
soundfile with lyrics displayed ...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3un5f6qLi_k
and incase the soundfile doest work...heres the lyrics
Once upon a time there was a tavern Where we used to raise a glass or two Remember how we laughed away the hours And think of all the great things we would do
Those were the days my friend We thought they'd never end We'd sing and dance forever and a day We'd live the life we choose We'd fight and never lose For we were young and sure to have our way. La la la la... Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Then the busy years went rushing by us We lost our starry notions on the way If by chance I'd see you in the tavern We'd smile at one another and we'd say
Those were the days my friend We thought they'd never end We'd sing and dance forever and a day We'd live the life we choose We'd fight and never lose For we were young and sure to have our way. La la la la... Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Just tonight I stood before the tavern Nothing seemed the way it used to be In the glass I saw a strange reflection Was that lonely woman really me
Those were the days my friend We thought they'd never end We'd sing and dance forever and a day We'd live the life we choose We'd fight and never lose For we were young and sure to have our way. La la la la... Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Through the door there came familiar laughter I saw your face and heard you call my name Oh my friend we're older but no wiser For in our hearts the dreams are still the same
Those were the days my friend We thought they'd never end We'd sing and dance forever and a day We'd live the life we choose We'd fight and never lose For we were young and sure to have our way. La la la la... Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Those were the days my friend We took the stretford end The kop and villa park as well We won division three We were the champions My friend , those days are coming back

What about playing music when we score? How about a burst of 'jump around' by house of pain?
