So MAPP says our results may put potential players off coming here....You What???!!, so he's saying after just 3 games!!!!! and no wins it will put players off???, rubbish!!! He's just saying in a roundabout way we aren't getting any more in.

IF true, then the players in question are not what is required anyhow. It May be an excuse by the manager, a delaying tactic to appease restless and 'worried' supporters.

I cant see him ( MAPP ) acquiring the 2/3 players we need to stop the rot. Surely we still have a decent amount in the budget plus the defunct 12th man fund.

so it changes on a game-by-game basis does it? what if we draw against pompey? i guess potential players will be indifferent. but if we win, they'll sign. but if we lose none of them will. but if we then beat...

If potential players are being put off from being paid to be at our club, what about fans who would pay to come and watch?!

What changes he said after a good win that it may help. Since then we have lost 2 and he's saying it's not helpful when trying to sign players. Telling the truth - so what

I got the transfer stuff sorted, go a goal up- and phone agents furiously, trying to sign players while we're winning!! Simples.

But if we park the bus how will the players get from the station to sign up?

But if we park the bus how will the players get from the station to sign up? Might be better if the club look around at the hellenic league clubs in our area we may get some players interested in signing for us.

after bristol city he said the result would help attract players. which is it? He is a former footballer, not too many bright sparks there.......unlike all of us we'll educated, well informed and never wrong supporters.

What he actually said is that it will put players off if they only look at results rather than looking at the bigger picture, i.e. they way the team plays it's football, the high quality of our coaching staff etc.
He is saying what everything else is thinking, whats the big deal?

Sorry? Go a goal up...? When is this likely to happen? Does not compute. Error. BTW I thought the comment from MAPP wa, at best, ill advised.

So we go from being a club with great potential, superb fans etc to lepers in one fell swoop. Players have gone to clubs considered smaller than us before a ball was kicked so i don't buy this current nonsense from the management. it is their job to "sell" the club to prospective players and Chris Wilder didn't seem to have that problem did he now.

∆∆∆ no, wilders problem was that he didn't have a system that worked for them once they did sign!

It wont put players off at all in my opinion. At L2 level it's the extra £100 a week in their wage packet that they're bothered about.
Anyway, no one will be put off in the time frame before the window slams shut. The season has barely started. If a prospective player has genuine confidence in his own ability then he will believe that he can be the difference between a faltering side and one on the up. I'm sceptical of any player who, two weeks into the season, looks at a fledgling league table and thinks 'no thanks'. They're normally the ones you see hiding on a pitch.

Is it not possible that there are several factors which influence a players decision, as there would be with any group in society?

But losing the first few games of the season isn't one of the important factors. Pay is, along with other factors that all weigh differently for any individual in question.

Agree, I'm sure that early results would be a trivial consideration for most.

You're right At league 2 level and extra £100 a week would make a difference to a players lifestyle. At PL level threatening to move if they don't get more money when they're already on £150K plus a week, would make very little difference to their lifestyle. I can understand a L2 player worrying about money, PL players are so beyond having to worry about money that it's just greedy when they do.

The season is already under way! Any players without employment will be happy if anyone shows an interest in them.
