For Saturdays game, none. Cant believe its 2 days before the visit of Pompey and im not buzzing. Last season we had a box, taxis booked, all the talk was about the game. This season be lucky to fill one cab. Don't think id even bother if it wasn't Pompey,in sure the other 5 coming at the moment would be otherwise engaged,2 weeks into the season and im already disheartened. Need a boost lad's,think its win or bust Saturday for me.

Since it will be my first match of the season (As stated elsewhere on here) my anticipation levels will be high on Saturday.
Not 'make or break' for me, you can't wave the white flag at this very early stage, can you?

I have to admit I am missing this one and decided to work instead. Three straight defeats...Reading festival traffic...also two friends from Portsmouth want me to go. I can't help thinking we might get turned over like we did to Pompey last season in their own backyard. I just hope we turn it round even with a fluky 1-0 win. It should've been different on Tuesday. I can't see any improvement coming right now until we get that elusive midfielder to control the game and someone experienced up front who can smash it into the back of the net when there is a chance. I have a feeling Appleton is directing his team to shoot on sight which is all very well but it isn't working

Bloody hell guys, people accuse me of being pessimistic!
Sadly, we will never return to the early 80s when we feared no team (on or off the pitch) at our place, but please, don't write us off yet. I do feel that the next one or two signings are pivotal regarding when (bloody soon) and who (quality and experience), but don't write us off yet.

There are some pretty dire matches coming up. These northern teams seem hard to break down so who knows we might spring a surprise on Saturday

The general malaise has summed up how I felt going into the season.
With the ‘takeover’ and appointment of MApp taking place in early July, we wasted two whole months where we could have been identifying and signing key targets. We now have a thrown together squad, some players who have barely played a pre-season match and others who are joining their teammates just now. Hardly indicative of a side gunning for promotion, is it?
We haven’t got a promotion side whatsoever and not even sure whether we have enough to warrant even a top half finish. I’m not totally enamoured with the new owners, the appointment process of MApp (and to a lesser extent of MApp himself – what does he truly know about League 2 football?) or some of our new signings.
I don’t want to be pessimistic or a ‘moaner’ but the summer and the season thus far hasn’t excited me at all. It feels like a few massive strides backwards and I can only see a fairly pointless and boring lower-mid table finish unless things change soon.

Fell into a slight lull here. I could stretch my student loan to both Pompey and West Brom, but opted in to working on Sat and I've never picked work over Oxford before.
Not generally a negative fan and don't think 3 games define our season, just struggling to get up for the Portsmouth game.

I couldn't be bothered doing the 90minute drive to morecambe on Tuesday was the 1st time I've missed a game north of the m62 in 3 seasons. Major mellaise. Hope I can get some inspiration before Carlisle end of September.

Personally I can't relate to the original post as I get a buzz before every game watching my team, not saying after 90 minutes I'm always happy but it's not dependant on who we're playing or our league position.

It appears that the initial excitement regarding the takeover has ebbed away and a realisation is dawning that the club is not progressing. There appears something missing from the current set up and we run the risk of sliding into mediocrity. We have been through so much as supporters but at present there is a bleakness in a lot of fans outlook which is affecting the mood music. We should be enthusiastic about Pompey but many of us are not. I still reckon we might cause an upset at West Brom. Is that optimistic enough?

Leaving Lincoln at 9.30am, be around the area (probably the Six Bells, then on to the Catherine Wheel or the British Legion) for just after mid day.... Our expectation, excitement and anticipation will be as high as it always is.... Lose the buzz, you may as well pack it all in.... Football fortunes can change very quickly, good and bad, this is what being a football fan is all about, We win on Saturday an things will be forgotten, we lose on Saturday we will still have 2000 plus fans with us at the Hawthorns on a Tuesday hoping this will be the game our season kicks off. KEEP THE FAITH (we have certainly been in worse positions)

You had a box for a game where Wilder lined up with 5 defenders and 1 striker against a Pompey side who were 20th at the time, and came on the radio afterwards to tell us that 'they're a good side' and 'we had good passages of play'.
Turn up on Saturday with your passion and cheer on our current manager who actually wants to attack, play football, and encourage players who proudly play for Oxford United.

My first of the season as we were on holiday. I can't wait. From what has been said we are playing quite well so I'm hoping for our first win. I'll go for 1-0 with a crowd of 7,000. COYY

Are you feeling optimistic for the season ahead PRB? Not particularly. But I don't give up on my club because of three narrow defeats in a row. If we are rock bottom by the end of September well that's a different story.

I'm not meh because of the 3 losses, it's helping that feeling but thinking about it some more its the seemingly writing off of the 1st half of the season by the chiefs as "we'll sign the right players in January" and add to that the whole Waddock squad clearing bollocks where the only squad members we lost we would bite your bloody arm off now to have in the feking squad**. Beano, Rigg and arguabley Smalley over having NO ONE. Add to that the two players in the current squad I'd happily not have in there!!
The timing of the change in management: Board and Playing Staff has been a nightmare. Yes I know we can't change the clock back but the frankly stupid decision of dumping Beano without a replacement were made short term and we're paying the price.
Looking at AFC Wimbledon and their close season signings. Have they got more fans? are they financially better off? are they more attractive? do they own their own ground?
I know full well as a club we cant afford to be financially iresponsible and go out and sign players for crazy money but a decent show of investement for forwards apart from a couple of kids from a higher division would be really bloody welcome right now.
** When I say squad, I mean squad and not 1st eleven.

And another thing, I'd be more positive too weirdly if Crocombe, Ruffels, Marsh, O'Dowda, Roberts etc were given chances instead of Championship loanees. As these young players are contracted to Oxford United. We are investing in them and that was one thing I really liked from the IL reign was this fresh approach to investing in the youth set up where can benefit from the growth long term.
These loanees are too transient - ok we could get another Rob Hall or Ryan Williams but they go without a say so from us as a club and carry the risk of being another Daniel Boateng, sucking up wages without giving a shite about the club or buggering off leaving us with a massive hole to fill like Rob Hall did.
