That could be 10-12 f*cking defeats, After 10 -12 games we may still have only the same players no new additions or certainly additions with experience, thin the first three league games have shown we are lacking experience and yes a seasoned goal scorer, They may have already been snapped up. But I am just a 45 year supporter what would I know. Jesus don't take it personally I aint

Browny people have always said you don't win games by playing fancy football all the time. But it takes time to get the managers ideas on how to play into place, we are 3 games in not 43 & facing the drop It does but how often have we head that over the years

It could also be argued that there is no reason that we could do the same. Obviously that could be true, but surely being a supporter means you've got to look on the optimistic side. Otherwise, what's the point If you're happy with being an optimistic OUFC supporter after the last ten years,I salute you sir. But I cannot help being a realist. Realism brings more than enough abuse on here, but it brings much less disappointment. I suspect that I am like many others on here these days, hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.

What is your alternative?

There are also those that see it as a bad thing. Don't think that negativity is a realistic view. It's about as realist as the people who are overwhelmingly positive. Realism gets lost in both views.

Of course we are f*cking worried. Which idiot would not be? Losing opening three games, inappropriate tactics for league 2, inexperienced young new additions who will leave in January anyway. At least the new management set up is good at press conferences and gives a professional air. So on the cosmetic front things have improved. Let's face it we are club with limited resources. I wonder who those who were calling for CW to leave had in mind as his replacement. The grass is often greener on the other side, but things have been better in the last few years than they are now. At least our new manager can maintain his great track record as a manager, his stats look wonderful. Save this post & we'll see what happens in a few months time or we can wait till the end of the season

I am trying to use the realistic approach in all this, but as a fan its really hard.
I am worried that we have lost our first three league games but a win on Saturday will see us skyrocket up the table and suddenly we will be on our way. I have a ticket for the Pompey game. I think the best idea for me is to go along and support what we are trying to do. I know its a cliche but football can change very quickly, and bearing in mind that I probably wouldn't have gone if wilder was still in charge...I'm gonna enjoy the next match, sing my heart out and hopefully come 5pm on Saturday we will all be delighted.

The fact that we were top of the league at Christmas and people still wanted Wilder out, and now we've got a manager who wants to play supposedly more attractive football and we still can't score a goal people are still panicking and saying we're sh*t. Just like the people who refuse to buy season tickets and still expect us to spend more money on players.... I can only sum these people in one word: moronic. Good post. You've manage to insult 3 separate groups in each of which there are people who have justified their view coherently and without being offensive. Or do you just like to be angry and think everybody who doesn't agree with you is a moron? Wasn't meant to target 3 groups of people, just people who fit into all three categories!!

Some people like to moan. At points last year we were in serious danger of running away with the league, yet that wasn't good enough for our fans, and the manager had had enough, and decided that fighting relegation at Northampton Town would be more fun than a possible promotion, partly because of the fans, partly because of Mr Lenagan's reluctance to give him the contract he wanted. Less than a year on we are moaning after 3 games. 3!. 270 minutes of football. We haven't been müllered in any of the games, we've lost 1-0 twice and 2-1. Appleton has been given half a pre-season and 3 games and all of a sudden we are on the brink of relegation. I don't know if you noticed but we aren't even in the relegation zone, and still just 6 points off the playoffs. Give the poor man time

But 3 goals against keeps us out of the bottom 2, But tbh honest we are light of a couple of experienced pro's and I cannot see us getting them before the transfer window shuts.

We are nine points off the automatics and seven off the play offs with 43 games and 129 points to play for.
We've been in far worse positions than this over the past few seasons.
We could do with a win, yes, but it's not like it's insurmountable. I'd love us to have got rid of all the old guard - Wright, Potter, Hunt, Newey, Rose, Raynes, Whing and especially Lewis - because they are just so set in their ways and just aren't winning footballers with a winning mentality but of course that's not possible in such a short space of time. The playing staff and coaching staff needed a complete overhaul and both have had it to an extent but the lingering whiff of past seasons is still in the air.
No panic - yet.

I cannot prove which way it will go and neither can you, but I am sure that we both want it to go the right way, that is realism.

There are, of course, people who get some sort of perverse pleasure in the team continuing to struggle.
They seem to enjoy a reason to vent their spleen at every given opportunity

There are, of course, people who get some sort of perverse pleasure in the team continuing to struggle. They seem to enjoy a reason to vent their spleen at every given opportunity At the moment the season seems to be carry on from last December and we have not improved one iota. People are worried and people will vent their frustrations we all know its impossible for us or any club to win every game and be sweet and happy, but to be constantly loosing then I think people have a right to whinge about hats happening. Maybe if IL had gone as well we may just my be doing things differently and MAPP could put together a team that would be good and consumable for this league.

I agree it does grind you down a bit, but for me there is no alternative to sitting it out.
I honestly don't know how bad it has to get for me to consider jacking it in - even another stint in the Conf. wouldn't put me off.
I look at clubs like Stockport, now plying their trade even below the Conference, and wonder if I could still be arsed to turn up week in week out.
But what else can you do. It's not as if fans can change clubs. You make your choice, whenever that is, and that's that till they take you out in a wooden box.
Things will improve, though. I genuinely believe that.
Just don't ask me for a timescale!

Concerned? Yes. But there's time to put things right. We're only 3 games into the season.
Obviously the results haven't been good, but performances have been promising.
A couple more experienced heads in the squad and a little luck going for us rather than against us and we could go on a run of positive results.
10/15 games into the season and we'll have a better idea if it's time to be worried for the rest of the season.

Just don't ask me for a timescale! I agree with all that, Ian. I will never "jack in" supporting OUFC, of that I'm sure. I might not watch them as much, but the underlying support will always be there. That said, although we're only three L2 games in, I am worried about MApp's ability to recruit what we need, and exactly what Eales & Ashton's objectives are. Having these concerns doesn't make me any less of a supporter though, something which a small number on here don't seem to appreciate. For them it's all too black and white; you're either positive about everything or negative about everything. Well life ain't like that. I'm a healthy shade of grey as, I suspect, most of our supporters are.

Here comes another moaner....we never looked remotely like walking away with the league, our home form was abysmal and once we and wilder got sussed out we started dropping pts and off he ran..That said i said at the time that Lenagan was gambling with our promotion prospects in a year when most of the teams were pretty much the same (very poor) and it was likely to be a long time before such an opportunity came along again but instead of acting in the best interests of oufc and it's fans the owner dilly dallied for 9 weeks finding his perfect fit and promptly allowed him to be sacked when his mates came in. We were told negotiations had been ongoing for 12 months and the new boys had approached him so he knew all along that this deal was close to finalising yet he still said only 1 more player after showing many the door leaving the squad threadbare. He then told us he had done his bit and it was once again up to the fans yet still there was no explanation as to why it had all gone so horribly wrong, just buy your tickets again and we'll start another journey into the promised land.
The problem with this forum is that should someone have a differing view then they get abused yet we are all supposed to be on the same side and want what's best for the football club and ourselves as supporters.
