I have received a response from them: "Thank you for your proposal and very clear exposition of your case. We are just about to have our October meeting and have a full agenda. It may just be possible to give your proposal some consideration then but, more realistically, it will be discussed at the next meeting in April. I shall put it down for that agenda." This is going to be a very slow burner... Is it worth OxVox directly contacting them? If so, send me the details by PM.

Great idea, chaps. Glad to see the ball is rolling on this one. Is it also worth letting local media know about this as well? Having the OM print a fluff piece about it or getting the Rad Ox boys to mention it would surely gather further support and may put a bit of pressure on the Blue Plaque committee. Something OxVox could help with. I was going to suggest this in my previous post but the power of the media may just see this actually get looked at on their October agenda.

Is be patient. No rush and you don't want to irritate what may be a rather fastidious and "particular" sort of committee

Great news regarding this, the Oxfordshire Blue Plaque comittee have agreed our proposal!
They felt that the club's history, association with Headington, achievements and status as a nationally recognised club warrented a Blue Plaque at the place of foundation!
The Blue Plaque comittee will now approach Ember Inns who own The Britannia to gain their permission. If that is granted then they will then seek permission from the City Council as The Britannia is a listed building. Given that there are already Blue Plaques all over the City on listed buildings hopefully this'll be a formality.
The next step will then be to raise the approx £600 needed to make and erect the plaque but we'll cross this bridge as and when all the permissions have been granted. After that I guess the wording to on the plaque will have to be agreed which I'll need help with - one for Boris perhaps!
Thanks to all those on here that suggested phrases for the wording and to Martin Brodetsky (Boris) for checking my facts on the proposal . Also thanks to Matt Derbyshire and Jem at Oxvox for their support.
I'll keep you informed of the progress but this will be a slow burner, the Blue Plaque comittee has already informed me that it will likely be 2016 before a unveiling ceremony can take place.

Delighted to confirm that at last weeks Oxvox Committee Meeting there was a unanimous decision to fully support this brilliant idea (it was never in doubt really!!)
We'll be looking at fund raising initiatives ASAP and will liaise with everyone involved to make sure this happens!
Well done 'The Fence End'!!
Cheers

What's going on with this then? Hi M The project is still very much alive, but we're in the hands of the Blue Plaque people. We have an indication on cost (£800 'ish') and discussions have taken place with Ember Inns. Unfortunately the guys who authorise the placing of Blue Plaques only meet a couple of times a year. We're as sure as we can be that this will go ahead, it's just taking a tad longer than anticipated! Cheers! Jem COYY'S!

We continue to chase the progress from the Blue Plaque organisation (at least once a week) and we're simply waiting on them to convene and approve the application. They only meet twice a year (only once last year) so it's a slow burner and we're in their hands.
