I love how we have fans bigging up a 18 year old for stardom before he has even played against Conference or higher opposition.

I could be wrong, but one game against oxford city was enough for me to see Ashby and Roberts will be of the quality to play for our first team this season. I saw enough of there from their touch, vision and decision making to see that they have the potential for me to think that.

Whitehead, Hackett and Ricketts? Was Rob Folland around at that time? Big things were expected but sadly it never happened for him!

Grenobleroad , come off it mate ! Both Roberts and Ashby are decent, tey have great potential but have never been tested with grown men/pros from anything higher than a few leagues below Conference. By all means encourage, get all positive but be realistic mate. They are no where near ready for first team football. Liking your own posts, eh? Show a degree of modesty man!

Then surely by the same definition , as they have only played against those teams, how how u say they are no where near ready for first team football until they have played some??

Folland is a few years older than these few, but he was in the same youth team as Paul Powell. We had a very good youth team at the time, it was the same year as promotion to the championship. I believe we made the final of a youth cup. I remember it was played at the manor the day after the game against Peterborough. Powell was the best of that lot, what a player. Should have played in the Premier, but was his own worst enemy!

If it was Folland, you'd get the Weatherstone's and Cook as well? John Sheppard was from around that time wasn't he?

He had a brother at the club as well. Was a bean pole type player if I recall correctly.
