I wasn't at Plymouth but apparently every player stood out, we played some silky football and impressed everybody. So what happened today? It wasn't as if York "parked the bus". The match was fairly even but Constable was often isolated up front and I was only really impressed with Williams and Newey. Lot of hoofing too. I don't understand it. I thought GW had found his style and would stick to it.
If we lose on Monday and York and Southend both win, could be curtains for this season. Disappointing.

I was at Plymouth, but not York (home) if that helps. Also I wore a lucky Unipart shirt to Plymouth but didn't today, even listening in on the app.
It looks like it's down to me if we fail to get in the play offs.

we've been let in plenty of times already and failed to make the most of it....it was back in our own hands prior to today and yet again we failed.

I was at both and you could tell after five minutes that something wasn't the same. Against Plymouth our players pressed and harried from kick off and also played though the back four.
Today the tempo was slower and Clarke was kicking long a lot. Against Plymouth he rolled the ball out to the full backs who then played in forward allowing COD and Williams to be involved.
We also held the ball better upfront at Plymouth but yesterday if was bouncing off Beano and were gifting possession back to easily.

Maybe Plymouth were just shit. They did lose 4-0 at Bury yesterday...

York are a well organised side who are difficult to beat. They are not pretty to watch and although we had possession at times they made sure that Oxford were limited in their pursuit of a goal. In the second half the York keeper was paid well for having a lazy day. I think the Oxford players worked hard but when you watch a team like Chelsea going for it against PSG in the last 20 minutes I honestly feel that Oxford players did not go for it. I know the comparison with Chelsea is unhelpful because of their class but they took risks. Oxford played into York's hands by playing risk free football. Plymouth allowed Oxford to play a more open game and wait for it, Oxford actually took shots at goal as a consequence. GW will try to pass his way out of this division, I really don't feel this is going to work. We looked better against Plymouth than we actually are. When York came with an organised team, difficult to break down and happy to take a draw, we were happy to play one touch passes in the middle of the pitch with little penetration. It would be nice to have a manager who thinks like a winner and realises that to get a result sometimes risks may have to be taken. We rarely looked like scoring on Friday.
