I don't know who you are (employee or fan) but I'd suggest you get your facts right instead of inferring I am lying or fabricating the truth. I was quite aware of what happened having been involved with the proposals, having met Mr Kassam and his team and knowing that Firoka wanted to give LW the very same opportunity before they sanctioned the project. I am also very aware that LW declined (dress it up how you want but they declined at the time and I don't really care if that was because there was a financial decision or they wanted to wait). OxVox were then aware of your recent intentions, designs and proposal. Then I was contacted by your Commercial Director personally. So with respect, unless you're an employee, then I am quite comfortable with the accuracy of my original post. It'd be nice to work together but with your childish remarks about attendances then you don't do London Welsh many favours. My position is that I am the membership secretary of LW supporters club and like yourself regularly meet with our club, I have lived in Oxford for all of my life and have followed LW and OUFC since I was about 10. Rugby has always been my first love, however I care very much about what happens to OUFC. the fact of the matter is that at the time of the negotiations with regards to signage LW didn't know exactly where they were going to be this season, the new commercial director wasn't even in place and so for whatever reasons they decided not to commit to anything at that stage. My main issues surrounding the attendances come from the fact as to why OUFC fans are so concerned about LW's attendances and their finances. right from day one our chairman engaged fully with IL and in fact they both got on very well personally, however Il described FK as very hard to deal with whilst for whatever reason our Chairman managed to negotiate with fairly well. Lone Gunman describes my attitude as snide arrogance which I can assure you is not intended and nothing compared to the attitude on here when LW first moved to town and most people on here, thought that OUFC had all the rights to being the only professional sports team in town, the vitriol there had a hint of pure hatred, fortunately that has mellowed and most people at least have an argument to back up their position. As I see it both clubs are currently in a state of flux and some of the discontent would be better directed, back towards the clubs themselves. The one thing that has happened lately though is that LW finally seem to have a far more joined up strategy in place whereas OUFC are giving out very mixed messages, the whole Water Eaton thing doesn't strengthen the clubs position with Kassam, especially with LW being there and it doesn't even appear that OUFC are even singing from the same sheet on that one. From a personal point of view I would see nothing better than OUFC and LW coming together for the benefit of the two clubs and Brahmabul I would be more than happy to meet with you and arrange a meeting between the two supporters groups to see how we can benefit the two fanbases and clubs. Why ever would you, at the age of ten, and living in Oxford, support LW, given that they had no connection with Oxford at all at that time? You're making this up aren't you? Notwithstanding that, do one and stop patronising us. We neither want, nor need any help from London Welsh. We've been in this City for 121 years, and we'll still be here a long time after you've scuttled away back to London or Wales.

Only one team for me, Eric. However, if there is top flight sport that I'm interested in on my door step I will go along and take advantage of it. Like other Oxford fans do. If London Welsh stay up they will grow in and around Oxford. The links and foundations they are laying will get stronger. The fan base will get bigger. It will also benefit the city of Oxford. Now that can't be a bad thing, can it? Strange how you are always moaning about the cost of OUFC events and cant go due to the expense but can pop along to watch top flight rugger when it arrives.

People that are interested enough in their chosen sport, be it either football or rugby, and who are prepared to go that little bit further and bother to register for an online forum so that they can discuss said sport (and take the praise, banter, or serious abuse when it's dished out), are by their very nature slightly more dedicated to their sport than average Joe Public. (or have too much time on their hands...) Joe Public just turns up, buys a pint and a pie (why? the food and beverage inside the stadium is vomit inducing..), shouts a bit during the match and then goes home. Doesn't get involved in the slagging off that takes place in these places and isn't that interested. The majority of regular contributors on here (contributors rather than lurkers) will have strong opinions of opposing teams, their own management and of 'other sports' muscling in on their Empire. So the "fek off back to Lundin" comments and complaints that it's the nasty men with cauliflower ears and sharpened studs that are the reason for poor results on the pitch, are only to be expected when this is after all a board dedicated to discussing things OUFC. However LW are here to stay for the next couple of years at least (I hope). The likes of Eric Read above might not like it and is hardly likely to turn up to watch a LW match, but both sets of supporters should have a united commitment to try and improve the match day experience, which is pretty dire. From staffing levels at the food/drink counters to state of the shitters, there's much room for improvement. Improve the experience and Joe Public might come back.. with his family... and maybe some friends.... Joe Public may even be a general sports fan who just wants to watch live sport and will come to the Kassam whether it's football or rugby being played as he isn't that bothered to travel to away matches. Get more of 'Joe Public' in here and the atmosphere will improve. The current setup isn't exactly encouraging them to turn up in great numbers though as repeat customers. For a city the size of Oxford there should be more bums warming seats when there's a match on (roundball or egg). From what I can tell the local LW supporters are putting forward some suggestions through their contacts, who can then put pressure on the Kassam management to get things sorted. Brahmabull et al on the Yellows side will be doing the same. Rather than slagging chappers off for coming on here I would hope that those members with a bit of nous about them will take up the offer and get in contact so that a bit more power is added to the combined elbow and we can stir Kassam out of his slumber. A few more wasps buzzing round his head and he may get off his arse and do something positive for the stadium. We neither want, nor need any help from London Welsh. We've been in this City for 121 years, and we'll still be here a long time after you've scuttled away back to London or Wales. ......said the OUFC PR spokesman.... I take it you won't make up part of the Joint Task Force?

I take it you won't make up part of the Joint Task Force? Well, at least you seem less patronising than your fellow egg chaser, and reasonable polite, so I'll respond in kind. I, and many of my fellow Oxford United fans, do not want to form any sort of alliance with you. I've got plenty of "nous" thanks, and can understand where you're coming from, but I don't agree with it. This is about far more than simple mathematics. In my opinion we would be selling our souls if we partnered with LW. We're a football club, not a football and rugby club. I want a stadium that is yellow and blue, with Oxford United logos all over it, with a supporters club, with character, you know........a home. Not somewhere bedecked in Welsh flags that is inhabited by strangers every fortnight. Succeeding that way is not succeeding at all, in my opinion. You lot may be homeless and nomadic, which is why you're eager to befriend whoever will have you, but I would rather keep you at arms length as I see you trying to profit from the unfortunate situation we find ourselves in, after kassam's asset stripping and Lenagan's eight years of mismanagement. It may not be "our" stadium in the eyes of the law, but it is morally ours, it was built for us, no Oxford United no stadium. I don't remember London Welsh's name being bandied about when it was built, or London Welsh's stadium being sold to fund it? And no, I won't be joining any joint task force. In fact I think any Oxford United fan that did would deserve the name judas.

To be honest its a bit hard to take being told by a bunch of interlopers to help them attain for themselves what we should have had ever since we arrived at the stadium and yet have never had, despite repeated attempts to change this.
Frankly I think its quite understandable that some OUFC fans would be happy for the match day experience to stay just as bad as it is (we're used to it) if that keeps LW's crowds down and increases the chance of them disappearing back whence they came (or to someone else's ground.)
This idea about 'flies buzzing around FK's head' seems a bit odd too. As far as I see it LW's relationship with FK is pretty cushty. I wonder how far OUFC would get if we suddenly decided to shut a couple of the stands and asked for a break on the rent!

I don't remember London Welsh's name being bandied about when it was built, no, but from Mr Kassam taking over he was on the lookout, and certainly from October 2000 (before the stadium was finished) until the shareholders finally repulsed him at an EGM in summer 2002 (a year after opening), poor old Moseley's name absolutely was being bandied about.

The problem LW have is when they arrived, they p*ssed off a lot of OUFC fans and haven't really done anything to mend the bridges. Its a reason why there is a a lot of negativity about them on here.

Build bridges with Oxford Utd fans? Because they do a hell of a lot of off field activates around Oxfordshire with local schools and local rugby clubs. Should they have to build bridges with Oxford Utd fans? What's that gain them? Didn't Lenagan and the LW people get on ok? Not sure about Ashton and co..

For one, it may help them get punters through the gate and increase revenue. Our attendances are poor, LWs are worse.
I suspect Ashton wants them out, but it's only a suspicion.

Isn't it his job to work on all aspects of Water Eaton? It wouldn't be very sensible for him to work on proposals that are unlikely to be acceptable to OUFC. DE/MA should have set out what they want and any constraints. But that assumes IL and DE/MA have an effective working relationship and a shared objective.

I watched London Welsh against Cheltnumb last night. F*ck me! One stand with fans in and most of them from Cheltnumb! Ruining our pitch! I really, really hate whoever lets them play at Ka-ka-cursehim's crap stadium (oh, it's him ain't it!) I like rugby league though, in case anyone thinks I just don't like that sport.

Go back as far as you like to the days when OUFC were flying high in the First Division, the bottom line is that Oxford United find themselves in the position they are through, a long succession of owners mis-managing the club, not through anything to do with London Welsh or any other potential co-tenants. I would suggest your efforts would be better directed towards pressuring the owners of your own club, to break that cycle, rather than trying to fight a perceived threat from London Welsh. I'm sure every sporting club in this country would like to have their own stadium where everything bobs along all rosy, but the bottom line is some clubs just don't have the wherewithal for that to be a reality. As for just blindly refusing to entertain any form of alliance that may be beneficial to both clubs, because you just don't want to share, is surely, if idealistic, very short sighted.

The general impression since your arrival in the eyes of the oxon public is probably "shambles" As for your succession of mismanagement. The only reason you are in situ is one conman who didn't wear socks It was a sucession of mismanagement that left the club in the state it was, that allowed Kassam to take advantage. As was said by someone else, peope who post on here have strong opinions, whilst in reality, the gemeral population don't give a toss about anything that goes on at the Kassam, be it Yellow or Red. Your opinion on that is based on the partisan group you move in.
