They've signed an Agreement for three more years. Three more years of shit pitches. Three more years of a hugely reduced chance of buying the stadium.
Phoenix club time? Something to rally round at least.

Better than the current seasonal "will they, won't they" saga.
And if the Welsh are, as it very much looks like if this is true, to be a permenant fixture, perhaps IL will now get his partner with whom he can buy the stadium, re-open the Priory, etc

Can't imagine they pay anything like the rent that we do.

I'm not in favour of this at all, however it seems to me that we seem to cope with it as a pair of clubs a lot worse than others do.
There are a number of shared pitches all over the country now, why does ours seem to fare so much worse?

Can't imagine they pay anything like the rent that we do. Good question. Self-evidently it must be less than the cost of relocating to Witney where they would retain more revenue.

They only rent 1 stand of the stadium, so they get a hefty discount compared to us.

On top of what ESB said above, I expect that they are using the threat of leaving to drive down the rent - there's a million other places in Oxfordshire and further afield that London Welsh could feasibly play games at. Unfortunately Kassam knows full well that there is no alternative for OUFC. Don't know anything about the internal politics of LW but being suspicious it wouldn't surprise me if the whole Witney business - especially the way it was played out in public - was just an exercise to strengthen their arm when it came to negotiating rent with Kassam.

When it rains it pours eh.
That last quote from the stadium manager is a sickener isn't it: 'the investments that both Welsh and Oxford United have made.' You mean the investments we were forced to make because you allowed the pitch to deteriorate for years, then let a rugby club rip it to shreds, then made the tenants pick up the tab. What a c#nt.
This club doesn't have a future until Kassam and his cronies (and Welsh) are gone and I can't see that happening as long as we have an owner who deals in promises rather than realities, sets a manager a target of promotion or else, then tells his replacement that actually promotion doesn't matter and generally mugs off the fans ate every turn.
Perhaps I'm wrong, perhaps I'm bitter but its not just me. There is an ugly undercurrent in fan opinion at the moment and IL would be well served to address it with more than a few hollow platitudes, for his own good as much as ours.

Then the OUFC logos sprung up courtesy of OXVOX and FIROKA and they had a change of mind. I'd be interested to know the positioning of them just to make sure all's in order.....

Why are they called London Welsh? They have a squad of 47 of which 5 are welsh! Oh and they're not based in London, unfortunately.

Got a feeling they will top our gates this season..
I'd imagine Interest is high now they are back in the top flight. Add to that teams with a very big away following. You're talking 3k or 4k maybe bigger for some of the bigger teams like Leicester and Bath.. Even London Irish and Wasps will travel well not to mention Gloucester.

I'd be interested to know the positioning of them just to make sure all's in order..... Not exactly how it happened but whatever it pleases you to believe, the fact is that during the negotiations to stay at the Kassam for the next three years it was agreed that LW could put up signage at the stadium, however a financial decision was taken to wait to see which league we were playing in before committing the money. As to the issue of rent, two seasons ago LW were paying something over £400k, which last season was negotiated down to just under £300k, with around about £2k per match deducted for not using the upper tier. For the following 3 seasons LW have negotiated a rent of just below two years ago, but for only the use of the one stand(both tiers)and I am sure we will pay extra up to what we were paying before if we use the North stand. As for attendances it looks like they are going to pass somewhere in the middle as LW's rise and OUFC's fall. Can you all stop whinging on about the pitch, it was better last season than many of the pitches OUFC will have played on away from home. the reason that other clubs with dual codes have immaculate pitches is that they are all owned by fairly well off football clubs and established premiership rugby sides, who can afford a 3G setup

We've got a London Welsh fan telling us to stop whinging. Tell you what pal, go back to the LW forum if you don't like it here, or better still, go back to London or Wales and take your f*cking rugby team with you. I really hope that, if we ever do move to a new stadium, we do it alone, and don't have egg chasing anywhere near the place!

Agree with that. However, according to Ian Lenagan, who mentioned it at the AGM. He plans to take London Welsh with us should we move to Water Eaton.

Hey, we could just do what the people of Wycombe have done and just switch allegience en masse. Anyone who has the misfortune to ever have to be in or around the town of Dreary Chairs, will tell you the amount of Wasps merchandise on show heavily outweighs that of the Wanderers....
