I think Kitson is too big a personality for Wilder to handle,
Needs to put up front as a target man in this league and not swanning around midfield like he wants to.

Kitson has said in the press that he doesn't see himself as a striker anymore Then I would say wilder made a mistake. As he said in the summer he would spend less on full back to allow him to go out and sign a decent striker to get is out of this league. If kitson ain't that man then he's a luxury we could have done without and had someone along the line of a tubbs/alf player

But he also deserves credit for brining in a player of his quality who improves the squad no end.

If kitson plays we go one up front like yesterday. That is negative if the lone striker is Suarez fair enough. At this level u need 2 . As good as he is I think having him in the team and not up front weakens us

Kitson behind the front 1/2 his aerial direction is good and he read the game better than anyone else. Sandwiched between the midfield and stiker(s)

I think he tends to drop a little deeper to fill the bloody great hole between our deep lying midfield and strikers.

I just don't think he has the legs for this position and more. U see as he tires he drifts further back. At least up front he can stand there holding the ball up with his back to goal or just run around in the six yard box nodding in crosses . Think how much ground Asa covers when behind the front too. Kitson just ain't got that anymore

If wilder was going to play a 'big fish' he'd have selected COD, that's quite a big fish on the right to play scale.

I think Kitson is too big a personality for Wilder to handle, Needs to put up front as a target man in this league and not swanning around midfield like he wants to. Wilder has stumbled on Kitson in that role. I do not believe for a minute that that is where he was brought to play. Totally agree with you about him staying up front. He's 6'4", great in the air and has a very good career strike rate at two leagues above. We need to play two up front with either Constable, Smalley, Potter or Marsh playing off him. The tactics need to change too with far more balls being slung up there to find him. In theory I'm advocating long ball but the sort of long ball I am on about is the sort that saw Billy Hamilton knock down countless long balls through the middle and from out wide into the path of Aldridge. If that's long ball football then fine by me.

looks like it does not apply to Appleton. I completely agree with this post and your original post. I always felt Kitson basically did want he wanted and played where he wanted. I know it's been reported that he's decided to quit but I think he's realised that MA is going to be different to CW and GW and he doesn't fancy the prospect of doing what he's told.
