what about alan smith,he does a bit of commentary assistance now. bit of an annoying accent but middle of the road type person,no controversy, which sky could do with right now.

I don't like Mark Lawrenson - the fella looks old, haggard and bored.
I think Craig Burley is an excellent commentator and would be high on my list. Collymore could be a good shout but the Cannock accent could be off putting. Alan Brazil is great on the radio and used to co-commentate on Sky around 1996-1997.

Once, when I was looking for an article about Terry Scott driving his car off the Transporter Bridge I found a thread on a Middlesbrough forum wherein they were laughing about gobbing at Lawrenson.
It's not often I feel any sort of kinship with smogs, but this was one instance.

Carlton Palmer?
Very similar and straight like Collymore.
Redknapp can do the job though

Gary Neville latest name being rumoured. He'd be very good at it, knowledgeable and respected throughout football.

oh and baldy says Andy Townsend is a good pundit. He is one of the worst there is. Completely cringeworthy along with everyone on ITV coverage!!

Neville would be a disaster Richardson is the best football pundit bar none Baldy hasnt a clue as usual what he's talking about. Why would Neville be a disaster. You can't back that up at all. You are just one of those loud mouths who jumps on a bandwagon without having a clue what you're on about. Neville has played at the absolute highest level for nearly 20 years, captained club and country, knows the game inside out, unprecedented success, has been the Man U PFA representative, good disciplinary record, no off field misdemeanours, good family man, clean cut, intellegent and well educated, articulate, oh and surely he's learnt something in his 20 years playing under the best manager of all time............. Now you list the reasons why he would be a disaster, Let me do it for you - Hmmm, let me fink....huh oh yeah, he's a ****** **** he played for Manure............. You're a know nothing with a big gob.

Neville doesn't have enough charisma, thats not knocking him as a person, he just isn't presenter material anyone can see that.

Neville's not particularly articulate and has the interactional personality of a peanut. He's also fiercely loyal to MUFC which whilst great on the field, wouldn't lead to impartial punditry. He's shown many times what he thinks of other clubs and I seriously doubt whether he could change that. He's also not particularly popular outside of MUFC which doesn't help.
Danny Murphy is a far more insightful pundit but obviously hasn't finished on the field yet. The best analyst any of us have seen recently has to be Seedorf. He was brilliant in the World Cup. Whether Sky could attract him is a different matter due to his commitments abroad.

Bit pointless to try to debate with you since you immediately resort to name-calling but anywhere. Neville is far from articulate, if he's well-educated he's managed to conceal it pretty well, he's extremely biased towards a certain team. None of these disqualify him from being a Sky presenter at all. However he has the personality of a wall, warmth of a whelk and humour of a window. I believe it's my turn to be called a know-nothing with a big gob.

I gave a whole list of reasons why Neville would be good, you've put forward NO facts whatsoever just silly, child like name calling. Sort of backs up exactly what I was saying. * Dougie - Danny Murphy ! - Now there is someone with a missing personality. Murphy is one of the least incisive voices in football, talk about dreary ! I cant remember what it was but I recall him jumping on some bandwagon not so long ago and basically talking a load of nonsense.

You're a know nothing with a big gob. One problem would be that I don't think he wouldn't be able to criticise Man Utd, and his open hatred of Liverpool would mean a lack of impartiality. And he would continue the constant criticism of referees that Andy Gray has mastered.
