When Wilder first came to the club he was like a breath of fresh air.He got the club on a role and we stormed up the table (who can forget that wonderful night at Burton when we p***ed on their party) and if it wasn't for the Hutchison fiasco we might well have made the playoffs that season. We got off to a great start the following season and looked certs for automatic promotion but we blew a 10 point lead at the top. I'm afraid that is when doubts about CW started to creep in.He stabalised the club in our first season back and we ended up 12th. But since then, there hasn't been any discernable progress and if anything, we have gone backwards in the last season and a half. The football at times has been painful to watch, as have the results. I feel CW has run out of ideas. He did get us back into the league, albeit by the back door, but we cannot live on past glories, as CW has said himself. Our club has to progress and I believe that can only happen with someone new in charge, with fresh ideas and impetus.

We deserved to lose, Barnet bombarded our box for the majority of the match. Difference is we took our chances. Was a pathetic display, players looked disinterested and passionless. Embarrassing to be there. Wilder needs to go now, we're slipping closer to relegation each game.

Completely agree. People think the "Wilder outers" have some kind of personal agenda against CW, and while admittedly some do, the majority don't and simply believe that he has taken this football club as far as he can. When he does go, it will be a sad end to a wonderful era that has restored pride back into OUFC. I don't agree with that at all. As it looks at the moment, when CW goes it will be because he was not good enough and will be sacked, nothing glorious about that. Secondly when he leaves he could have left us with his legacy of relegation. All a bit early for back slapping, hopefully there will be some twists soon to revive this club. Remember that when CW came in, relegation from the BSP was a real possibility. And who was the last manager who got us promoted ? I do think he's pretty much reached the end of the road, and I sure hope that IL has plan B (C, and D) waiting in the wings. Give the guy his due, and look to the future.

Can we change the thread title? Why ? Do you not think that that a discussion about the manager's position has any relevance in the post match discussion ? If you want to discuss other aspects, no-one is stopping you. Why? Well I was thinking that the thread title 'Oxford Smash Barnet' implies a handsome win for the lads, but that a Desmond score did not quite fit the bill. Goodness, people can get quite defensive when discussing the manager.

The thread title was certainly holding a hostage to fortune.
