So now the games are over and the facilities used have proven to be top quality. Do you think we will bid for the games again, sooner than the last games we hosted?

No, the whole point of the Olympic games is that it's a world wide event. I know we're insular, but to host the Olympics for a fourth (FOURTH) time would be ridiculous. It's been a wonderful, once in a lifetime event, let's leave it at that.

They may well bid for the games again, but it wont happen in our life time, but im sure it will when we are all long gone.

The only reason we would host it again is if nowhere else in the world thought they could afford to set up all the new infrastructure required, so we would be asked to reuse ours. Sure it wouldn't ever come to that. And we are going to modify/dismantle some of the venues anyway, so maybe not even then. As Mr Pnub says - wonderful, once in a lifetime, leave it at that. Mind you, a World Cup wouldn't be out out the question sometime... maybe we could have a bid

We tend to have the games about once every fifty years. About right if you ask me. It gives the rest of the world a fair chance (and lest face it not everyone can put on the games as much as the IOC might want to suggest otherwise.) We're pretty damn good at it too IMO so why shouldn't we bid again?

Will the Crystal Palace meeting be held in Stratford now? I thought I heard somewhere that it was the last time it would be held there, but I could be wrong.

Absolutely 100% we should. We should be ambitious enough to say 5 times is not too many and here is why. It's criminal we waited so long to bid for the Olympics when places like Atlanta got it. For once the British need to be just a little arrogant.

As frankie Boyle said, " three weeks ago I knew nothing about the Olympics. I now can't wait for Olympics 2013".

I couldn't go to the Olympics this time as couldn't get a ticket. Perhaps I'll try next time in Europe? Wherever that may be?

Well, we certainly won't have hurt our chances by absolutely nailing this year's Games in every way.
But it's going to be 40-60 years till we bid again whichever way you look at it.
Just too many places that can potentially put on a Games whose turn will come round again before ours.

I would like us to keep the Olympic stadium as it is, so that way we can still have all the top athletes coming here, ie Diamond League or Golden League. That way it keeps the interest very high. I would also like us to keep the Aquatics centre and Velladrome!

Well why not? With the worlds economic status as it is can other countries afford it, this has been the most successful Olympics ever IMO.

No reason we shouldn't apply again. Although I would like to see another venue apply though like Birmingham or Manchester.

Sod waiting 40 years, lets stop being so polite and modest. If other cities can't bid properly, lets not wait on the sidelines. Although the fact is that, according to the IOC, 3 cities (Tokyo, Madrid, Istanbul) have bid properly for 2020. Paris will also want a turn, and are capable of a decent Games (if not as good as us!). And you know the US are going to get it again before too long (hopefully in New York). Then China & Australia will want another go. Maybe South Africa will be attractive to the IOC to bring the Games to another continent. Germany might want (and be able to afford) another shot. We can bid again - but I can't see us winning again in our lifetimes (other than Grampsioli the everliving)

Birmingham or Manchester will never be hosting an Olympics in any of our lifetimes, they are just to small and lack glamour. London is our only hope and will probably get it again, but as has been said not for at least 40 years or so, so dont go getting excited about it yet.

Manchester and Birmingham might be competant at hosting sporting events but they will never have the kind of attraction necessary. Admittedly there aren't that many countries capable of hosting, but it will still be 40-odd years at least before its worth putting in another bid.

Istanbul would be an outsider I would guess, although part of me would like to see it go there as the other two are similar to what has been before.
