Sounds encouraging. Craddock is a good footballer - no doubt about that and Smalley has shown in the little glimpses that I saw from him last season that his movement is decent and he is quite quick. What do you think of Raynes and Capaldi. Does the back four look OK? Smalley was quick and strong, actually. Capaldi was solid, long throw. What you want from a defender I suppose, won't tear up any trees though. I wasn't really a fan of Raynes, but he wasn't bad. Tall, strong and reasonably quick, but I thought his positioning was suspect (as was Wright's).

Smalley and Craddock only looked good because Cardiff had practically all their youth team on the field by then. And we were mostly a team of trialists. Sorry, that doesn't work for me. They looked good because they were good. They worked together, they created chances and they moved about, unlike our front line for most of the first half. Craddock was slick and intelligent, Smalley was strong and... well, quite a lot like an on-form Constable with slightly less goal threat and a better first touch. We'll see how they fare in the league but that was very encouraging from those two.

Their workrate 2. Their movement 3. The fact that what they tried was different and pulled Cardiff about In fairness, Alfie moving to a roaving role helped that but again when Alfie plays in that role he causes havoc both on and off the ball with his movement But let us not also forget that to be fair Beano looked very sharp too. Overall I thought we matched Cardiff until they scored, had a wobbly 10 minutes but pretty much controlled the rest of the game. The biggest difference between the two teams was Whittinghams dead ball delivery which was a class above anything we will see this season All very encouraging I thought

Just Back
1st half was ok but we didnt look to take the game to them. potter seems bulkier and had some good touches. Chappers doesnt look match fit Raynes look ok seemed to work well with Wright Smalley very impressive put himself about and sparked the game. Craddock looked good unlucky with free kick JFC- looks good Cox - thought he did quite well unlike other comments here. Clarkey- looked a bit dodgy in place hope hes recovered fully and just making error pre the start of the season. JC- hope he improves Rest did ok
Shame Marsh not played would have liked to have seen him have a run out!!
Triallists surprised they didnt get more game time so CW can decide think Ryan and Evans look good.

Just got back. Let's please start Smalley and Craddock. They were really very good, especially as a partnership. I don't really mind whether we go 4-3-3 or 4-4-2, the movement that those two provided, and their link-up play, was excellent, and Craddock was so unlucky not to score. I think they were the cause of our much better play in the second half. Also, who was the guy with the pink boots in the second half? Trialist, think it was Courtney Harris? He was probably our best midfielder, could tackle, pass, shoot and had a bit of pace and vision. I'd seriously consider giving him a contract. Chapman looked like he hadn't played in a while, Cox didn't seem to do much for me (not bad, mind, just average) and JFC was inconsistent but had a few lovely moments. Second half was really good, play like that and we'll cause any opponents a lot of trouble. Yep. And I also thought Courtney Harris showed enough get a contract.

Third time I've seen Harris, and he's been good in all three.
Sign him.

I hadn't been overly impressed with Harris in the other two games tbh. But thought he looked very good today, as did Tafazoli. Not sure about Evans as a right back. Capaldi and Raynes look solid. Capaldi wont get forward as much as Davis. But is a solid defender, with a massive throw Agree Chappers didn't look great, gave very silly foul away for their first goal. Caskey didn't get much of the ball first half. And didn't create much. Cox is the bulman type, runs about, puts foot in and plays it easy. Rigg looked ok, but his final ball was usually poor, but runs at the defence and not afraid to shoot. Potter looked our most dangerous player all game. Constable looked ok, had couple efforts but we never really created much for first 60 mins. If Cardiff really went for it the first hour, they'd have buried us I felt. The last half hour we battered them. Their keeper made good save from own defender, one saved off line, Pitman should have scored, Smalley chipped just wide, when should have squared it. And Craddock's free kick some how came back out. Agreed I thought Craddock looked good when came on, but you can't deny the fact they were playing their kids at the back by that point? All our forwards are scoring, thats only a good sign. We also played 442 for last half hour

We need to sign Harris from fulham if we don,t we will miss out again remember last year ruben Reid Reuben Reid was the summer under Patto, so 4/5 years ago? He didn't wanna sign for us, he made that clear. Had that one good season with Rotherham. Was released by Oldham in the summer, I think he's a free agent now. I didn't rate Harris against West Ham and Didcot but thought he looked good on Sat, we are one midfilder short at the mo I feel with Leven and Whing still out for 6 or so weeks.

Going to be honest, Theres going to be tough competition for him if he does join. At the moment a dream midfield of JFC at a CAM role, with Leven in LCM and Chappers in RCM. Obviously with Leven out, I would move JFC to LCM and keep chappers in RCM, with Cox/Whing In CDM. And i just realised i've Completely forgot about heslop! Harris will be struggling for a place if he joins
