Tim Rackley, the landlord of The Priory Pub, has asked me to help raise awareness of little Charlotte Nott's plight. I'll start by saying this. Those of us with children of our own will tell you that, as parents, we go out of our way to provide for the little ones. We put our kids' needs before ours. When they're ill, or injure themselves, we worry, but rest in the knowledge that they'll recover sooner or later. We've all read or heard about Charlotte's dreadful condition, so I don't want to be any more negative than we have been already. If it's at all possible, let's show Charlotte's mum and dad, Alex and Jenny, that there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about her future. In mid-August, Charlotte and her dad and nan came to my house in Amersham. I was extremely nervous, waiting for her to arrive. My nervousness quickly turned to amazement, when I met her. She came bounding into my home, with what seemed like not a care in the world! She took a cup from my hands and drank the juice from it. She then asked if she could draw some pictures, so I gave her a pen and paper, and she drew pictures of her mum, nan and me. It was only when I saw her drawings, that I realised she'd drawn three people without arms................and then it hit home to me. So, how can we help? The NHS will supply prosthetic limbs. But. Alex showed me one of the legs and, without being disrespectful to the NHS, it felt very heavy and cumbersome. You can acquire really decent prosthetic limbs if you go to the private sector, but of course they are rather expensive. Over the next 15 years or so, Charlotte will need many adjustments to her aids, as she grows older and bigger. This is where we can help. Through our fantastic (I mean really fantastic) Priory landlord Tim, we can raise money for and donate to Charlotte's needs. We did wonders for Tess Sullivan recently; can we do it again for Charlotte? Of course we can! Tim is going to raise funds by: Asking people to donate £2 when using his car park on match days. There'll be collections at the bar. A well-publicised bungee jump before the Burton game, this Saturday, the 10th of September. We'll also have buckets again for this day. All bungee jumpers should be at the pub by 10:30am. It will cost £60 to jump - the money to be raised by sponsorship, of course. If any companies want to donate, their money will be gratefully received and we'll put a sponsor's board up outside the pub and put a half-page ad. thanking everyone, at the end of the fundraising period (from August - May 2012, at the last home game of the season) Any monies raised will be handed over then. Primarily, we need around £8,000 to get the first pair of prosthetic legs for brave little Charlotte. Our aim is to buy one pair of carbon fibre legs. I feel honoured to help Tim with this. Alex and Jenny haven't asked us to help - but I am totally convinced that we will show our true (yellow and blue!) colours again! I will add more information as I get it. Dave (Cuddy) Cudd

Anyone now if Rob from OxyKits makes flags anymore? I work for Tim on match days and i thought of a idea to have two flags made for The Charlotte Nott appeal to be put up in the Priory tent. When i was working the night of the Cardiff game a Cardiff fan donated £20 was amazed how kind he was and some other Cardiff fans donated as well.

You can count me in for anything that's going on Tim/Cuddy..Although I'm ****ing myself about the bungee jump on Saturday I've no idea why I signed up for it..oh wiat a minute yes I do it was to help Charlotte and to show that 10 seconds of pure terror for me is nothing compared to what she has gone through

Thank you all for replying. Tim and I have banged heads together and come up with a flyer, which we will distribute to local businesses, in the near future.
Any suggestions are much appreciated, chaps (and chapesses)

privileged to be part of this family, the oufc management/players/staff/the fans have been first class with us,it`s time for me to give some time back and help the community, the priory is a community pub and this fundraising project is for any like minded father/customer/ business/ to get involved, thats why it is over 9/10 months so we can get the job done properly,i have no doubt that we will raise enough to give charlotte and her family an improved life, they really have had an horrendous time, i won`t post it on here but talk to me on home/away games and i will gladly talk about there plight..

Tim's made a brief mention about Kelvin Thomas very kindly donating two shirts (signed by the United team and management) for us to auction off. You can bid on line (here) for them, or on any of the Charlotte links.
Dave the stadium announcer will finally auction them off, at around 2:30pm when we play Accrington at the curse him stadium, in two weeks' time.
On Saturday, I'll have some badges from Tim for sale - United's logo, with "United 4 Charlotte" on the outside (quite neat!) £3 each. All the money will go to Charlotte's appeal.

I've just seen an announcement by the 12th man people that they are out in force to sell 12thman badges on Saturday. (see 12th man thread).
I am not amused and I have let them know.......why the hell they cant' wait until we have asked our fans to donate for Charlotte, I will never know.
Surely Charlotte is much more important.

Bob, I think most are aware of your views on the 12th man fund, but on this point I agree with you 100% Saturday should be about Charlotte, 12th man can & should wait.I ceratainly hope that Tim says no, if the try selling tham at the Priory tomorrow! Let's wait & see whether they actually do listen to others, or as I suspect, just each other.

bobsss
I don't pretend to speak for Tim but I think you'll (or Lode Yellow) will find that yesterday was the start of the "campaigne" it was purely focused on the bungee jump and jumpers. Tim has stated that this is a season long thing and other money gathering activities will be used during the months ahead Also and I agree with Tim here he feels uncomfortanble having people push buckets into other people's faces and prefers to have them on bars etc where people can donate, however this may have to change during the season depending on how much is being raise I assume.
Personally I think Tim is a total OUFC legend
As I said I don't pretend to speak for Tim and the views above are what I've gathered from talking to him and observations

Thankyou Joe spot on post, the bucket collection was carried out around the priory pub,not the stadium, due to the stadium having a few collections for other charities,ie help the heroes,so cuddy said... So a few kind people went around and collected £167.00/john gould gave me £20/val £40/a guy who didn`t jump but put his name down £80 -bless that man , 2 cheques for £20.00 each, so that totals £327.00, The priory will buy the united 4 charlotte cake for £100.00 and pop that over to the stadium tomoro,to thank Kelvin etc for there help , so we will total that up to £500.00, to go with the £555.00 already raised, £1055.00, plus the pots on the bar need to be counted. THE SPONSORSHIP FOR THE BUNGEE JUMPERS WILL BE PASSED ON TO ME IN THE NEXT 28 DAYS,i only took the £60.00 off them so they could jump. Stadium collection will be carried out on the rovers game if Kelvin is in agreement Another collection will hopefully be carried out on another big game in march/april AS JOE STATED THIS IS A SEASON LONG FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN Justice would not be done to it if we tried to do this over a month or two. RAFFLE ONGOING AUCTION CAR PARK MONEY , when we can man it !! ,not bradford/cardiff/burton,but hopefully every game from today PEOPLE HAVE ASKED ME WHAT WE RAISED, I HAVE NOT GOT A CLUE ,39 JUMPERS ALL HAVE SPONSORSHIP MONEY TO PASS ON TO ME IN THE NEXT 28 DAYS, SO WE WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED, THANK YOU ALL, LOVELY DAY , DON`T FORGET TO BUY A BADGE WHEN U R NXT IN £3.00 OUFC PRIORY PUB UNITED 4 CHARLOTTE X

If someone can let me know the amount via mail we will match whatever has been raised so far - as club sponsors and most importantly all people with our own young families we will be raising awareness with our our clients. I met Charlottes dad yesterday who left a lasting impression and commanded a lot of respect and admiration and i tried to pop into his box at the game yesterday but missed him - so if someone could pass on his details to me i need to contact him again. thank you. and as mentioned let us know the amount and we would be delighted to do our bit.
